Neighbors in June

Post by scout »

Hi all,
I walked outside one evening in june and
around 23:00 I heard a really loud female org from one of several windows of the neighbor building next to my home.
I couldn`t exactly locate were the action was going on.
I did not have my recording device with me. Shame on me!
But I thougt give `em antoher try. So half an hour later an I hided an OLYMPUS DS 30 voice recorder under a bush about 10 meters far from this building.
Next morning I picked it up and heard the recording.
Imagine this couple had three further sessions of fun as far as I could analize. The wife was much more silent than in her first loud orgasm.
00:15; 01:10 and around 02:15 pm.
I cutted the longtime recording with Audacity to the essential scenes.
Sound is not perfect -I did not get more from the material - sorry for that.

Neighbors in June II

Post by scout »

If you enjoyed the first recording of the neighborhood female rabbit you might be interested in the next file.
It was recorded the following night.
It about 3:15 am when she got loud again.
This night there was a rain shower about one hour before so raindrops fall down from the surrounding trees.

Regards,

Oh yes! The first one is is the real stuff. I love it.
On the second I think all I heard was a raven? Any hints?
Hope there will be warm nights coming - keep an ear on them.

i totaly agree. the second one is nothing but a crow (or a raven, what the hell is the difrance anyway?)
chears on the first one thou. from my humble experiens i can say that pepole tend to follow a weekly cycle in ther sex habbits. especialy if there are not in the begging of the rilationship. so your best odds to capture her again is coming back in the same week day you heard the noises.

a question for you and anyone alse who might be intrested to answere. suppose you captured a whole night sound, lets say about 8 hourse. how do you locate the good stuff (if any)? do i actuly sit and listen for 8 hourse?

That is indeed a problem. As I am using Mac OS I use the quicktime player and set playback speed to 3x (I think this works quite well, i.e. you won't miss anything, however 3x is still time consuming. Another solution is to use Soundstudio ( again Mac os ) and use the fast forward mode. I would guess this ends up with a 10x speed up, however you need to train your ears if you do not want to miss anything.

If your "target" is really loud and there is not to much background noise, than you might simply have a look at the waveform of the file ... yet, that would be the jackpot anyway

I would also be happy to hear about a better solution!

I think you will have to go through the listening process. Only with quality recordings, looking at the peaks of a file's waveform will help to find the loudest parts (or the most interesting ones). I have learned to distinguish between regular snoring and rhythmic sexsounds by the look of a waveform but I am not able to "see" moans in a next door recording in most files.

As I often start recordings when leaving my hotel room or at night, while sleeping (that's why I'm an expert when it comes to snoring waveforms), I had to listen to 40 hours after a weekend spent in a hotel.
I'm on a PC, using Adobe Audition but the procedure is similar to kukuk's. Open the file (which alone takes a few minutes), cutting the loud parts at the beginning and the end (when I'm still in the room), amplifying the whole waveform (usually +10db). Putting on my headphones comes next before starting to listen. In Audition you can "program" the fast forward button (very easy) and set playback speed to a constant between 2x and 8x or to a variable (first click 2x, second click 4x, third click 8x).
I have played with different settings and now use 3x constant - from 4x playback speed I had the feeling to fail to hear too many might-be situations. Whenever there is something that might be part of a sex sound, I switch to normal speed.

This way listening to a 1 hour recording takes about 30 minutes on average. Of course there are parts when you know there is no need to listen - snoring or really late at night or when the housekeeping is in your room.

Very time consuming but it's worth it when you are addicted to being the sex detective ;-)
Business before pleasure as my dad used to tell me so often ... wonder if he had the same business in mind.

If you cannot or do not want to listen for hours to your recordings, you might also ask (I should say in the community subforum) if anybody else would do that for you. I'm pretty sure there are a few who would. I would setup ftp access to a folder for you and the ones who offer to assist so the file transfer could be managed without thinking about file sizes.

Ah yes, the good ole 'overnight recording dilema'. Well... for my personal situation.. my MP3 records in .wav format.... so usually I will archive these files.. then.. on a rainy and not-so-exciting day.. will play them back and skip about 3 min at a time, listening for variations (sexsounds).

If you are recording a houseguest or something.. these variations are usually easily detectable. However.. for longer-distance targets (ie, neighborsounds with no specific target)... as they tend to be quite faint and possibly require further amplification/filtering... sometimes they are almost impossible to tell without listening through the entire recording... but personally.. if you cannot hear it distinctly, and clip is less than 3 minutes.. it really isnt 'community worthy' to me personally (okay.. maybe i have high standards..haha).. anywho... thats is my method (okay.. sometimes i just randomly choose points in the clip.. not necessarily every 3 min.. but you get the idea).
