Sonar, I see your point.
Personally I don´t like these buttons and I think they tend to prevent discussions.
What do others think?

There have been times when, like Sonar, I have wished I could simply click "like" on a particular comment, because I agreed with the sentiment but had nothing further to add to the conversation. However, this may be a bad habit I have picked up from social media. Occasionally a poster will lament the lack of responses, despite the fact that a post has had a significant number of downloads; a "like" button would obviously increase the number of feedback options, but it would probably diminish the number of short appreciative comments. I think "dislike" buttons tend to inspire more bad feelings, as it is difficult to comprehend the specific cause or intensity of the particular dislike, leading to more misunderstandings.

I think that is a good idea. As slipnslide72, I often have not much to say, only that the recording is cool, and I think that the recording with a row of similar short responces under it looks a bit strange. If somebody has to say something more than just "Like", I think (s)he will do it anyway. Concerning Dislike button, I agree that it is not a positive stuff, but sometimes we have posts which (in my opinion) deserve nothing better, and the amount of Dislikes could be a signal for the poster (may be) not to repeat such trash.

Exactly the opposite from my point of view. A recent example: I´m really glad that members finally commented on olaff´s style of posting with substantial information that might show him what others think. This would never have happened if there was a dislike button. Way to easy to just press a button without thinking and explaining ... This wouldn´t be my community anymore.

We are only a small community at the moment. Dislike button would be a bit moot because there are only a few of us commenting regularly. We also shouldn't be so lazy that we cannot give some honest feedback and comment on any particular thing.

I wish I could just "like" this thread.

I´m still not sure if this is a good idea and even less, if this is a good implementation but that seems all that phpbb (our forum software) has got at the moment.
Do you like the heart button?

It seems to work. I wonder how many people will even notice it.

thanks a lot to yeppie for the technical advancement... let`s see how many people will use it and how the number of contribution develops. At first I thought the idea is fascinating to just like a post or recording, however, it might reduce the number of comments to each individual post... so let`s see...

It is an interesting experiment. Agree with thomas: let's see how it will work and how much people will use it.
What does the little cross near the heart button made for? I tried to click on it too, and it doesn't work:)

I think it stands for how many times the contribution has been liked... :-)

No, that's the number, of course. And I mean this "x" symbol.

I was wondering myself and I don´t like it ... but I guess, Thomas is right, "x" is the symbol for multiplication so it reads "heart number x" meaning "liked 2 times" ...
The extension is still in Beta so I hope for further development.

It seems that people do not mention this new feature at the moment: the beatiful hotel recording from Lyon has over 300 downloads and still 2 likes - can't believe that people do not like the recording.

Hope so, the design of the button could be better.
