need help uploading/editing wav.-file
Hello community,
I need some advice/help with a file I recorded a few months ago:
I live in Austria and I´m lucky enough to have a beautiful neighbor. She´s a quite tall blonde, 22 years old and curvy. She´s hot...
A few month ago i recorded an audio of her and her boyfriend. I planned to use it as my first post. But:
The quality is crap
I thought I´ll upload it here, getting help from you guys. But it´s 80 mb and that seems to be too much (or is it my fault?).
Any ideas?
cheers,
4t

Re: need help uploading/editing wav.-file
Beautiful Austrian girls need to be heard here, so we should get this fixed.
Usually I´d say convert the file to mp3 to shrink its size but if you want it to be edited, that might not be the best idea. So the best alternative is 7zip, a tool which allows to make split archives. If you manage to produce 3 equal parts of 27mb you should be able to upload them.
Any questions?

Windows movie maker usually does the trick for wav type files. Not sure with the new 'live' version on win 7, but the old one that came with XP you could edit them.

I think an nice contest would be, who can make the cleanest file. I wouldn't mind giving it a try.

ok, guys.
I´ll try to split it. Considering my not-too-great pc-skills it might take a while
i´ll be back...

Hello community,
I cut the file in two parts.
I know the quality is (below) crap but I´ll appreciate your effort to make it clearer.
to the german speakers: any idea what she says?
Thank you,
4t

Re: need help uploading/editing wav.-file
hi chris
which recorder did you use?
i have now converted the two files from wav to mp3 as mp3 is standard here on the site and the files now have only 6MB - still 320kbit mp3.
because of the horrible background noise i suggest to use post-precesing technics like low cut filter etc. but there are other experts on the borad for this. i have used Avn Audio converter for the conversion but there are many programs out there. if you have such a programm you could convert the original file to mß3 and dont need to split it in two halfs.
regrads
ps. the moderator should move this thread/files to the NEIGHBOUR section.

No problem, 4t. In the first place it was a know-how-topic.chris4t2 wrote:thx, yeppie!

Hi community,
it does not look like anybody could make the file any better. Hm, maybe next time.
Many thanks for your effort, especialy to yeppie for being so patient
Hopefully my next recording is going to be of a better quality.

Re: need help uploading/editing wav.-file
Hi Chris, I have downloaded the original wav file and am trying some filtering to see if I can clean it up any. The background noise is as you said very high and it is not going to be possible to remove even most of it without affecting the sounds we want too much. If I get any improvement with it I will upload it as mp3's.

Re: need help uploading/editing wav.-file
Despite the quality (authentic and definitely not below crap) these files are worth listening!
I didn´t understand much but I think she said "komm schon, mach´s mir" ("come on, give it to me") in the middle of part 2 and towards the end "schneller" - "faster" and a few "Ja!" ("Yes!").

Re: need help uploading/editing wav.-file
I took a crack at it with Audacity. This is what I did: 1) drop out frequencies below 190 Hz; 2) drop out frequencies -18 dB between ~325 and 460 Hz (also known as a notch filter - it took out the dominant sound from the air conditioning); 3) applied noise reduction at -9 dB. The desired sounds are not much above the background as mentioned above, so there is less to work with. I made almost the same file with the same problems several years ago, and this is what I learned: 1) keep the microphone and recorder still. You won't improve the sound much by adjusting the position. 2) try to find a microphone/recorder that fits tight against the wall. Any gap creates a resonant space between the wall and recorder, emphasizing certain frequencies over others and distorting the sound. 3) Shut off your air conditioner to decrease the background. Good luck and happy hunting.
