Last Thanksgiving, I had made plans to spend New Years Eve with my friend Zoey, who has appeared here before. A week later, when it turned out she was going to be in the same city I was flying through to go see my aunt and uncle, she asked me if I would take a later flight out and meet with her. I changed my second flight, kind of expecting that she was thinking of having s romantic interlude. She wasn't.
We met in the airport bar, and after a couple of a few flirtatious martinis she finally spilled the beans, and let me know she was now in a relationship with a guy in Florida, where she lives. We'll always cherish our time together, who knows what the future holds, etc., etc. You know the drill. After the drink I offered to walk her to her car, since I already needed to go back through security anyway. She said no a few times before saying yes, and then we got to her car and didn't say a word before diving into one another.
This recording isn't long -- (hey, it's in a car in the middle of broad daylight; we do what we can) -- and the in the first part the radio she turned on as soon as I got in the car is too loud. The radio goes off a little way in, though. (Not be design; one of our legs or feet must have hit the off button.)
Anyway, that's the story here. Afterwards I lightly tried to suggest that if we had just done the seated mambo in her car then maybe she wasn't ready to settle down quite yet, to which I deservedly got a hard slap to the cheek. We both apologized, and agreed to try to stay friends. We shall see if that happens, but I hope it does. She's pretty damn amazing.
