Also overall increased volume.
Thank you mlee80!
Your editing work is great and welcome. What I don´t understand is why you decrease the quality/mbit/s usually. I would go with the one given by the original. There might be a good reason that I don´t see ...

The source was ~20M wave (uncompressed, probably 32bit float) file.

I saved as mp3 with 192Kbps constant bit rate, which is relatively high quality and seems to be what a lot of the files on
this site use. 2.4M for a short (1:45) clip is about what I would expect.

On an earlier effort I did discover that Audacity had reverted to variable bit rate behind my back.

I am attempting to match the original quality, although I don't see a way in Audacity to display the source settings.
There probably is, just have not found it yet.

On a windows laptop I can see the source settings just by holding the cursor on the file ... or, if needed right-click and check properties.

Thanks, sometimes it is easy to miss the simplest solution.
On Linux the equivalent is the 'file' command, here are results for above including some testfiles I wrote while looking at bit rate.

file 10891*
10891_2_nr_float.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, mono 48000 Hz
10891_2_nr.mp3: MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1, 192 kbps, 48 kHz, Monaural
10891_2_nr.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, mono 48000 Hz
10891_2.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, stereo 48000 Hz

And size:
20M Aug 13 16:14 10891_2.wav
20M Aug 19 09:29 10891_2_nr_float.wav
9.6M Aug 19 09:27 10891_2_nr.wav
2.4M Aug 13 16:24 10891_2_nr.mp3

This also shows I saved as mono, the original was saved as stereo but the 2 tracks were indentical
