Yes that would be quite brave, not for the fainthearted.
I always 'travel' through the staircases if possible. Some do have an alarm but many don't.
When new couples arrive at the hotel from their evening out I am in between floors in the stairs and can hear on what floor the lift stops. Within 10-15 secs from them leaving the lift I pop out on their floor to see where they enter their room.
I also travel on socks - I've had it where i took my shoes off and left them if I don't have a room in the block, luckily never lost them :-D

It's sort of a tragedy that you didn't get more of it. This was a fascinating encounter as far as I'm concerned.

She says to him 'what can't you do? Oh!'

Then says to him "It worked out. i'm sure you'll admit, I was overdressed'.

This is just the stuff we need.
