In that case, watch couple movements and perhaps walk through hallways if there are no security cameras. If the hotel is isn't insulated much the sounds will be abundant. You might also watch a couple walk by or two from the hotel lobby if you are chose to hang out there. There things also usually happen at night so it might be the best time to go through the halls.
In your case, it is a case of being lucky because you don't get to chose the hotel. But keeping your ears open is what you can do. And yes, if you hear couple inside a room talking, might be a good sign. The do not disturb sign isn't particularly useful since it could be a single person getting sleep. But watch out for couples.
Good luck, can't wait to hear how it goes.
Which recorder do you use btw?
Thanks for the tips. I use this recorder. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XO ... UTF8&psc=1 I don't particularly like it. Once you turn it on a red light comes on, so it is fairly noticeable. The light is where the hole for the mic is, so if I lay it flat next to the door you can see the light, if I lay it so the light is down the sound is muffled. I would love to know if there is a recorder without a light or one that you can tape over without muffling the mic.

Another thing to look out for is security guards patrolling the corridors! Stayed at a hotel recently where this was the case. A complete and utter waste of time. It was my first and last visit to that place.
I can only think thy've had a run of thefts from rooms recently. Or reports of pervs listening at doors....

Right now I'm looking at the double doors between two adjoining hotel rooms....... and I'm thinking how that has to be the absolute easiest capture method on Earth. One USB microphone placed down on the carpet into the crack between the doors is a dream setup. All you need is the good fortune of a horny couple on the other side!

Re: The Guide of catching SexSounds
Hi,
I don't do a lot of corridor walking these days. For me the trick is to identify likely couples elsewhere in the hotel, such as the reception or the bar, and identify which room they are in. I have a lot higher success rate this way.
One thing I do do though is to walk slowly to my room via the longest routes when I first arrive, usually tugging my wheeled suitcase behind me. It's surprisingly common to hear female laughter from behind hotel room doors, which usually indicates there is a couple in the room. I've invariably found that female laughter is the prequel to happier sounds later in the evening, which a carefully placed recorder will capture.
Just something for you to listen out for.....

Re: The Guide of catching SexSounds
I'm staying at the Hard Rock in Florida and that I got two free complimentary nights here as last night I heard around 1am what sounded like a female getting spanked by a guy in the next room which has a door across from my room but the gap is too small to even fit a phone under it as my neighbor was getting intimate last night all thru the morning and made a lot of bed creaking sounds but how do I capture the sounds without alerting the couple in the room next door with a shared room door? and plus even if I stand outside the hallway to listen to it there is camera's by the Elevators that I'm afraid to take out my phone and Record something so the excuse I give Security would be is me looking at the pictures of bands and singers on the wall as the room next me usually got started at 1am and Security and maids are not around that time in the morning so I need advice on how to successfully capture the sounds so I can contribute to the site for the Motel/Hotel Section.

The best guide for catching sounds---when you are able to choose the hotel yourself----is to go on a hotel rating site and pick those with low star scores, and low ratings. My hotel is a 6.8 on Booking.Com. The rating is the key!

The Hotel I stayed at which was The Hard Rock Casino in Tampa the rooms were really Beautiful and nice but the walls were really insulated Pretty Good as trying to hear sounds of people having sex sounded faint but I tried to place my ear against the wall but that did'nt do much since you could only hear so little but I am traveling to Atlanta to a 3 star hotel so maybe my chances will get better of capturing sounds rather than staying a hotel with tough to hear walls..

Yes, I agree. Check out TripAdvisor (for example) and find reviews where former guests complainChocolateRideHer wrote: 24 Nov 2017 13:22 The best guide for catching sounds---when you are able to choose the hotel yourself----is to go on a hotel rating site and pick those with low star scores, and low ratings. about loud sex noises emanating from next door and/or above/below. Personally, I like cheap and
sleazy budget hotels (with 90+ rooms) with a bar, so that you can have a good look at the
other guests. Most budget hotels are minimally staffed at night, and so you would rarely
expect to see hotel employees patrolling through corridors at night.

Re: The Guide of catching SexSounds
yea that's what I'm doing now is looking at Reviews at like Ramada Inn and Knights Inn and Super 8 motels but as far as Marriott or Holiday Inn I'm kinda avoiding those hotels that has hush kits and Room Renovations and Security cameras as I tried to walking down the corridor at the Tampa Hard Rock Casino and Suites and I tried to see if any couple was having sex while I was walking down the halls but the cameras kept me nervous because I don't know who's watching my movements from a Security office so I took the Elevator from the 5th floor to the 6th,7th and 8th but sadly I heard nothing because of how well the Hotel is built to sound proof sex sounds from bouncing off the walls and stuff so I just walked past each door and listened with my ears and acted like I stayed on that floor so Security did'nt think I was being suspicious I just hate hotels with Cameras and the random Security guards decked out in fancy suits and looking at you as if your a suspect or something...lol

Re: The Guide of catching SexSounds
plus these were not normal hotel rooms these rooms had something different to them as they did'nt have the " Do not Disturb " Sign for you to hang on the door you had to press a button from inside the room that gives you two options ( Call the Maid to clean the Room ) and ( Privacy ) which lights up red and also flashes red from outside the room that's the only thing that would tell you if someone is having sex if the room had a red light on it but that was pretty hard to tell sometimes because some people could sleeping or resting or having sex or out and about in the Casino so the one's on red that I walked by curiously were just people watching tv and talking inside their room nothing that gave off moaning sounds I would of had to lean in really close to the door if I were to hear anything but I did'nt feel like looking suspicious by the cameras so I avoided doing that..

Re: The Guide of catching SexSounds
I would like to divert the topic away from hotels to regular houses/apartment blocks. Now that it is summer, with open balcony doors and windows and all, you might be lucky to hear something while walking outside.
(I was always into sex sounds, had a lot in a former neighborhood, but that was shortly before smartphones so I practically never had recording equipment ready. Nevertheless, the best were to be heard on the balcony. I moved two times since then, and I had virtually no luck at all. But last night I heard moaning across the garden, couldn't quite figure out where it came from, but guess now I'm gonna go hunting again;)
So, long story short: if you have little action from your next-door-neighbors, does anyone have recommendations on where to listen when you pass a building? (like what is the best time of day/night, what kind of buildings are most likely to yield the desired sounds (poor neighborhood or rich, how many stories, etc.), can you figure out if the bedroom lies next to the street etc.)

Re: The Guide of catching SexSounds
I would agree with some of suggestions to stay in motels with thin walls and which are located in popular resorts (more people). Thus, weekends would be the most likely to catch something. I would also add spa resorts (couples relaxing during weekend time without kids) and private 'village apartaments " that are built of traditional materials and you can hear every sound behind the wall. You should also check rooms structure nad choose the motels/hotels/apartments with high number od two persons rooms.
