The last (edit) is more distorted than the unedited. Good to hone your skills but it's hard to improve what's not there to begin with. I'd give up and move on. I feel the frustration as well. The Covid has really done a bad number on CA hotels. Since bars still aren't open the hotels are quiet.
This board's salvation of late has been from hotel creepers where Euro countries have reopened, those with horny roommates, and the ones getting outdoor sounds. I haven't heard a live sound since Valentine's in San Francisco and it's driving me crazy

Can you try listening the edit with headphones? I am definitely hearing something and it can't just be me. I am listening with headphones, so maybe that is why I can hear it.

no you are not alone i can hear it too on the edit files as well
think what gekko is tryin to say is its bit muffled compared to the original files though originals are bit softer compared to the edit..same issue i had editing your files..there was higher distortion.
so in the end i thought would just help post your big unedited files here to let some sound guru in this forum work their magic on them

I can hear the sounds; I was trying to be diplomatic that no fault of the OP, there probably isn't a decent way of capturing even a mid quality version through walls. I have the same situation; young couple downstairs. I can hear them but never been able to get a decent recording through my floor. No amount of amplifying, de-hissing or editing can turn a bad recording into a good one.
And... the solution to obtaining a decent recording given your circumstances - as with my own neighbors - may entail some undesirable risk and lawbreaking - not worth it.
