Neighbors Across the street (Hot new update, 3-27)

Hello everyone, this will be my first post of an obtained sound!
Across the street from me, and one house over is a young couple (mid-to-late 20s). Overhearing them is what brought me to this board, so it seemed most fitting to bring everyone else some of my joy.
I've got a long description of them in this:viewtopic.php?t=10436 story, but since not everyone wants to read Moby Dick before hearing their sounds, here's a brief blurb:
They are both beautiful, athletic, and really great all-around people.
The man is around 6', medium build but with probably about as much lean muscle as his frame will hold. He has very dark black skin, and just a hint of green his eyes.
The woman is short, maybe around 5'-5". Slim, athletic build, with nicely flared hips for how thin she is. Dark brown hard, olive skin, strong eyebrows. She has a ready smile and laugh, and her voice carries (as you will hear).

This night, it was a saturday, and I noticed that they had just returned together, being a little dressed up. Generally they are in sporting cloths that are entirely for function, and they tend to do some rather intense sports, like winter whitewater cayaking. Since they were dressed up, I assumed it was a date, and figured I might hear something in the next half hour. I finished a few chores, bundled up and took out my pipe to have a smoke on my porch, which face their house. I should have thought to take down the damn wind chimes when I went out, but hey, it's a first time.
This is with my phone, with window's closed, from my porch, 10' from the street, across the street, and then a 20' hill to their house. I can't *WAIT* for better weather. I'll bet you all will feel the same.

I know, right? Getting a recorder in closer is goal number one right now. Has anyone messed around with a cord or string of some sort on their recorder, so it can be tossed and pulled in later?

Here's my second recording of these two lovelies.
My USB recorder had just come in, and I figured I had gotten good sound from my porch, so I left it on my porch, to see what messing with a file for a full night would be like. To my surprise, I got another hit, first try. I nearly choked at my luck when I listened in the morning. She's pretty expressive again in this clip, even though it's not very long. A full session with all the sound would be a dream.

Yes, Fishing line.
Have a look on a RC cars.... they can come small and could go under the porch etc.

Or have the clearance to go over the debris grass etc:

You just need chassis not the top cover. You could have a solenoid underneath that would droop and collect the recorder in desired area. Imagination and diy skills are the limit. Watch out for the cameras/video door bells.

RC is a safe option, or chasing the pet dog ....

Oh, of course fishing line would be the perfect material!
As a general note, how resistant to weather are the cheap USB drives?

A bit of the Rain would be ok. However, when exposed to prolonged humidity they will develop oxidation around the battery connections.
There are some options to make them a bit more water tolerant, depending how you want to use them.

Here's a nice little morning love. The audio wasn't the best, as they are fighting a dawn chorus. I had high hopes to get another better capture, as I had a task on their neighbors porch. To my chagrin, they had already left for holiday travel, and I had a perfect placement on *two* empty houses. (The neighbors are a lesbian couple whom I have overheard once from my porch. Maybe my porch is the lucky somehow?)

Anyways, cleaning up this audio took some work, and I would like feedback on which was better. Here's one without noise reduction:

And here is with noise reduction:

I certainly feel this makes the birds pop nicely, but I'm not sure with the moans.

At last, I've caught this pair at it again! They had a long holiday travel scheduel, and all attempts to catch something since they came back have come up empty. (I even shoveled the neighbor's walk to get a close placement of the recorder, but they didn't play along by making sounds for it to pick up.)
A nice little morning session, but thankfully the background noise wasn't too bad at the key moment. The grackles have picked the Calerry Pears clean, the crows have been elsewhere, just leaving the woodpecker to fight human sounds. It... does well. Sorry about that! I hope you all enjoy, and we all can start counting the days down to spring.

Lovely: the birds are still the noisiest part of the show, but the human sounds are delicious!
