I have a recording that is 12 hours long. I skimmed through it all but really didn't have time to attentively listen to it. Any one out there want to help me find something? It was a friend of mine that got flew in from town while I was at a party. Told her she could crash at my place and make herself at home and we'd go out the next day. I ended up staying at a hotel that night so she had the whole place to herself. I had a recorder in the rafters and had a timer set to when she would get home.

I'd greatly appreciate it. Some time stamps that caught my interest but really don't know if it's anything at all. Time stamps are at hour 4, 5, 7 and 8. FYI I have a cat and dog that move around a lot as well. Thank you!

It's an indoor recording, so it should be quite easy when you use software with a spectrum analyzer - a must
when you do these types of long recordings.

I've been using 'WavePad' myself for extracting sounds from my all-night outdoor recordings, which are
more difficult due to the variety of background noises.

I could do it for you if you want.

i use izotope rx. its very good for "seeing" sounds.

You learn very quickly with experience. For example, in my outdoor recordings, I know what the waveform of an
arriving car looks like, so I just scan through the whole recording very quickly until I see one. Then I just look for
points that look like voice signatures after the car's engine has been switched off.

That's kinda how I used audacity. But from what I've experienced, that software won't load anything above 8 hours. The annoying part about this file, is that I used a battery powered phillips digital recorder and I don't know if the settings I have on it currently but there is a constant high pitched sound through out the entire time. So it's really hard to pinpoint anything. I'll take you up on that offer though if you're still willing, thank you. What is the easiest way to send a file this big over to you? Should I just upload here?

Never had that problem with WavePad, and my devices can record for around 12 hours.

That may be to do with where you left the device. Are there any electromagnets or electromagnetic sources
close to where you hid the recorder?

Thanks! I've scanned through the entire recording but didn't pick up anything of interest.

I mainly heard the sounds of people pacing about above and below, and the sound of a lift/elevator
moving up and down. I did hear the faint sounds of a woman speaking in a few segments, but that's all.

Any clues to analyze files this long efficiently?

Dang. Maybe she was too tired haha. Also, I don't have an elevator or lift in my house lol probably the fan you heard. Thank you for your time and effort though!

Ha! It's how my brain interpreted those sounds, having listened to several lift sounds in hotels
over the years.
