LGBTQIA2S+ Research Study on Audio Erotica/Audio Porn

Hi everyone!
My name is Alex (she/her), and I’m a queer doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at Ball State University, as well as a practicing sex therapist and sexuality educator. I’m currently recruiting participants for my dissertation research, Aural Pleasure, which explores how LGBTQIA2S+ folks engage with audio erotica/audio porn.
I’m interested in experiences with all kinds of erotic audio, erotic podcasts, narrated fantasies, moan audios, spicy audiobooks, stories on apps like Dipsea or Quinn, fanfic audio, AI-created erotic audios, and other forms of audio porn. The study invites people to reflect on how audio erotica has shown up in their lives and what it may have opened up, challenged, affirmed, or helped them imagine.
You may be eligible to participate if you:
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Identify as part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community
- Have experience listening to audio erotica/audio porn
- Can read and write in English
The study involves a confidential 30–45 minute Qualtrics survey. At the end, participants will have the opportunity to receive one of four $25 digital Tango gift cards through a separate, unlinked form to preserve confidentiality. The study is approved by the Ball State University IRB [IRB-FY2026-39].
