Hungarian flatmates, London

Visited this site since the days of the Yahoo group, and have often lived in shared student houses, but always without any way of recording. I finally have something via the laptop (though not too well as yet).

A Hungarian couple (mid 20s) recently moved in to our flatshare. Their room is next to the kitchen and while there at about 1am, one could hear her very loudly. I recorded the sounds with the laptop's internal microphone, which by default had a booster function on which produced a huge amount of feedback.

I edited the sound in audacity to improve the amplification and to cut out the worst of the feedback tones. I since recorded another session a couple of nights later, but haven't edited the files yet. Would like to hear any advice about how to improve the recording from a laptop (ie use compression, or noise filtering etc). I recorded about 10-15 minutes overall, but only the loudest parts are audible at the moment.

Should be possible to catch something again soon.

I don't have an idea how to improve your recordings with software methods.

You should try an external microphone if possible. The Logitech desktop microphone (3.5mm) has a good enough sound quality and is sensitive enough to pick up noises from some meters away. It's less than 15 euro here.

thx for the recording so far. I'm looking forward to the next ones recorded with external mic :-)

Hey bluten (what a name)

First of all, thanks for your first contribution. We might have a gem here but it seems to suffer from over-editing. If you still have the unedited version, would you consider uploading that one? There are a few specialists among us who might be able to polish your rough diamond.

Like jinhui I'd recommend using another recording device. An external mic is one option, a mp3 recorder is another. But nevertheless even your laptop microphone is better than no recording at all.

Looking forward to hearing more - she seems to be hot.

Thanks for the microphone recommendations. Meanwhile a recording from a couple of nights ago. This one's a bit better, less editing (just three clips spliced, and amplification), and an updated driver on the soundcard. The woman is a bit of a screamer; loud enough to wake light sleepers down the hall in any case. (She's about 5'9 and blonde).

[My internet speed is kaput, so I've converted the 20Mb wav to mp3]

(Yeppie, oh dear - 'bluten' was a contraction of the rather pleasanter 'pflaumenblutenzweig'... )

mp3 is fine, even better than wav if you ask me.
pflaumenblutenzweig sounds even more interesting. where did that name come from, some kind of haiku? btw. bluten is a german word which means to bleed - blüten (with points above the 'u' or blueten) would be 'blossoms'.

Thanks for the new sound!

Yeppie: yes, it was from a Haiku! A German friend gave me a book (I always find internet usernames end up being a word from one's bookshelf). My German being worse than lousy, I forgot about that verb.
Snoozing early lately, I haven't been around late enough to record anything, but will update when possible.

UPDATE:
Well, the Hungarian couple moved another girl into their room, apparently the guy's sister. Consequence has been that there hasn't been any night-time activity, though my girlfriend heard them in the afternoon a few days back.

News is that the single guy in the room next to ours has acquired a Japanese girlfriend. Whilst the Hungarians showered we heard they were having sex. Totally different from the other girl. We recorded about 40 minutes or so. Still don't have an external mic, so it probably will be very faint, even after editing.

Will upload when resampled down and volume levels edited etc.

(By the way, our room adjoins a Colombian couple. The girl is petite, big-eyed, very cute. Despite that wall being thin enough to hear sneezes through, we neither of us have even once heard anything resembling sex. Or, only the once - leaving the house one weekend morning we heard the regular, repetitive sound "Si...si....si..." Then we realised she was talking on Skype to her parents back home....:) )

A couple of minutes from this morning. Unedited except for length.

UPDATE:

The Colombian non-fucking couple moved out a few weeks back, and a new -married- Colombian couple have moved in. The first night they stayed here they were woken by the Hungarians, and came to the kitchen to make conversation with me about how rude it was for them to be so loud. I think that must be in the top ten of awkward social situations - introducing yourself to a couple who don't speak your language well, so you strain to listen to what they're trying to say, while loud sex is going on in the next room...

I recorded the Hungarians a little earlier, and will upload. Since then, the blonde woman is clearly trying to be quieter, but blatantly it's not in her nature.

What's wrong with Colombian couples? Doesn't cocaine make you horny?
Switching back to open-minded-mode now ;-)

It seems cocaine dealers have better places to live (Monaco yachts etc), and the users are spending all their earnings on handguns... The Colombians we've met here have been ultra-middle class and domestic - ie., laboriously mopping and sweeping the floors during sunny weekends (preferring not to use the vacuum cleaner, too easy), religiously putting everything in tupperware, able to gabble for hours in non-stop Spanish, yet too shy to say more than hello in English, only listening to traditional national songs etc etc..

I've found the file of the night the Magyars woke up the new couple (3 or 4am): they waited until the guy emerged from showering, then told him to keep it down. He protested with a smile, 'But everyone's got a right to have a private life guys!', to which she said, 'Yes, in your ROOM!'

Have a recording from yesterday to dig out too.

With Colombians like that I prefer the Hungarians ;-)

Well I should have said that was the first Colombian couple, the latest ones I've hardly met (and both women have been far more attractive than the generic-blonde Hungarian). Anyway, the new ones are moving out (this is a typical turnover for London houseshares), so nothing to hear from them...

[On Hungary: Having lived in Budapest for half a year, we found it a country of largely backward peasants with fascist yearnings, and with a language that sounds like an obese mother giving a lecture to a toddler. And with a miniscule proportion of attractive females - the only ones with facial structure we met were all Croatian.]

Acquired an mp3 player with a record function, so here's a couple of minutes from the regulars. (No editing, in the beginning you can hear the dawn chorus outside and the kettle boiling...:) )
