Hi,

I have read the post on how to become an Active Member, and I've looked at some of the other threads in this section to see what others have contributed to be able to view the archives. I have contributed two fairly lengthy audio files, found in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1931

I have seen that many members have contributed a lot more than I have to be able to view the archives, but these two files really are all I have (and believe me, I wish I had more!) and I'm not sure when I'll be able to record new ones.

I realise I may not have contributed enough to be classed as an Active Member, but I'm just trying to be honest with my request.

I await your decision.

thanks for joining, sharing and asking.
To be honest, providing you access to the archives seems unfair towards other active members and it wouldn't be clever to discard our active membership idea. Nevertheless you have access to all the files uploaded to the forum which means a pretty good give-take-ratio.
Hoping you don*t resent me for the refusal.

Just thought I'd add a post here to point out that there are plenty of other ways of being "active". This place is doing well for contributions at the moment, but comunity-wise it's having a bit of a dry spell. Commenting on files, getting the board talking to one another, and making newbies feel welcome are all valuable places to start if you don't have any files to share. Plus, scouting around on Youtube and posting captures here is a great way to contribute if you fancy some detective work.

I can't seem to download any uploaded files... anytime I click on an attachment, it tries to download 'file.php'. I assumed that was part of the Active Member rule... is there something I'm doing wrong?

As every member of the forum you should be able to download all attachments. Just checked your user rights - all settings are ok.
I think to remember that this can be changed in the settings of your browser. Anybody else?

Ah, now I understand why you asked for archive access so soon... this place would be pretty frustrating without the forum files!

Which browser and opperating system are you running Jay? Will hopefully give us a better idea of what isn't configured correctly there.

I use Vista and Firefox. My downloads get 'caught' by a program called Mega Manager, but I tried overriding it and it still downloaded a .php file which was only a few KBs.

Can you deactivate/uninstall Mega Manager and test downloading without? This might be the reason for the file.php problem.

Yes, that did it I feel so stupid having made this thread now, lol

Don't worry, your welcome. It's not you who's stupid but that download manager. I'm glad it worked.
