Neighbors, Swedish

Ok I have no good equipment and I wasn't prepared. I've never got a chance to record my neighbors for years up to now. It's about a young couple who lives next to me, first I didn't know where they are so the first recordings is made from inside my bedroom, later another day I opened the window and their window was open too... However, because it's getting cold outside and it's windy it's hard to stand there holding the window half open and the cell phone at the same time, I almost turned to ice :D

thanks for the recordings. I could hear in every recording something only in rec2 not, but I didn't use any special amplifier or software. If you know which neighbours they are, you could try to get a better recording from their front door. If you have some Money left, I would recommend a good Recorder like Olympus LS Serie.

Great stuff. Seems like you're sitting on a goldmine.

Place a recorder in fron tof their door to collect more in the next 6 cold months.. 8)

Oh thanks! :)

Unfortunately I don't have money for better equipment right now. I'm listening to the recordings in Media Player Classic or Audacity using headphones. The files ending -w is recorded via the window and they are louder, and there's more background noise because of loud ventilation and maybe other things in the building. I've tested the voice recording once and I've discovered the sound quality is bad but still is better on the video: "Audio: AAC 32000Hz mono 62kbps". So I'm recording videos that I convert to wave files and after deleting some noise (that occurs when I move the cell phone) and adding "fade in/fade out" I convert the wave files to MP3 128 kbps just to preserve quality for possibly further editing.

Thanks! Actually their door is too far away, their window is the closest I can get from my apartment and I'mafraid it won't be open later on since the winter is coming. I'm still looking forward to more recordings next year.

Good on ya. Until June it is then..

I am not into sound editing but am quite sure fading in- and out is not helping much when it comes to sound quality :D

Thanks! I guess Nb-131031-w.mp3 is the clearest recorded about 2 metres from their open window. Since there's buildings and a road right outside it's impossible to have better recordings without risk to be discovered. Still maybe it could be more clear if I had very good and expensive equipment. I've got a tips here already, unfortunately I cannot afford it right now. Ha ha! I was the one who wanted better quality for some years ago, now I understand how difficult it can be...

Another one... I missed the first part, I wasn't prepared, and still no better quality... I've been thinking about to invent a holder for my cell phone, it's getting cold here... :)

This series is fucking epic already, and I'm only 3 files in! I'm not usually into girls this loud, but I'll make an exception for her ;)

At this distance, the biggest improvement an Olympus would would get you is a lower noise floor, but the improvement would only be marginal. In other words, you're doing good with the equipment you have so far man. Keep up the good work until that window opportunity disappears for the winter.

Thank you sc0tt-uk! :)
Me too I'm not usally into loud girls but on this distance I'm glad she is. Actually I want to hear even the small sounds, and it's more exciting if a solo girl or a couple is trying to be quiet, but fails :P ...That's why I'm also is looking for recordings of roommates.

Have you checked out the series I started with recordings of Anne? Lots of detail to be heard in the stuff I've posted so far, and lots more files to come whenever I can find the time to edit them.
