koerbel_de wrote:is there a free software to get the sound from a vid? i made the ba-sound-files with a trial version of soundforge, but the trial now is over

does anybody know if it`s possible to combine a jpg with a soundfile, for example to show an album cover while playing the sound file?
If I remember right, the videos are in wmv format (?). you can rename them to wma and play them as sounds. what i used to convert them to mp3 is a tool called "dBpowerAMP Music Converter".

http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

it´s not free as registration costs 14$ (there is a 30 days evaluation period) but i think it is worth buying.

can´t answer the second but i´m interested in that too.

[regarding beautiful agony]

I think it a commercial interest in first place there. It is a nice idea and different, however the main purpose is commercial. The want quite a lot of money and not replying to yeppie undelines that in my opinion.
To make it short - I don't like it ;-)

[ripping movie sounds]
I record the sound of movie files with a nice little tool that can record anything that comes out of your soundcard:

No. 23 recorder

[pics in mp3]
Great idea, never thought of that for "our" files!

It can be done using the MP3 cover art tag that is also shown in Windows Media Player etc.
You can add the pics for example with this free tool:
http://www.softpointer.com/AudioShell.htm
It can also be used to ectract the pics from the mp3s ...

just renaming the files sounds easy, but i do prefer mp3s because of the file size. i will check out dbp, thx for the link.

thx, that`s exactly what i was looking for. works fine with the real player, but windows media player isn`t showing the "cover". however, it`s a great tool.
