Camping In North Devon

Hello all, this is my very first file. I've been a lurker here for a few years but I was inspired by the amazing camping files of Jojolapin2108 to start capturing sounds around me.

I was at a lovely campsite in North Devon at the weekend and, needing to go to the toilet at 2 in the morning, I thought I'd take a circuitous route back to my tent by walking around the whole campsite listening for likely noises.

After a false start involving a bit of giggling and a growling dog, I found myself outside a small two-person tent. I could hear people rustling around on an airbed and I heard the unmistakeable sound of a lady groaning. I'm smiled to myself waiting for the fun to start, but then heard a male voice say "sorry I need to go for a piss".

I hastily backed away from the tent. Luckily the man didn't walk the 300m to the toilet block but proceeded to piss into the bushes behind the tent. I had turned off my phone to avoid any random alert sounds but figured this would be my opportunity to capture a sound. I turned the phone back on to airplane mode and sneaked back to the tent.

The attached sound is most of what I captured. Unfortunately the file stops after 21 minutes although I'm not sure why so it's probably only about half of the session. It's quite representative of the whole thing however as there didn't seem to be a point when they just got wild.

The next day I kept an eye out to see what they looked like. She was about 23, 5'7 tall, with dark hair with a white streak over one side. She was medium build with breasts that I would estimate as 'b' cups. He was about 5'9" with blond hair, he wore glasses and looked a bit nerdy.

Anyway hope you all enjoy the file.

It's given me the taste for more although I'm going to look at other recording options as I don't think holding my phone to the side of a tent is really a good idea in the long term!

Very good recording! Thank you. JoJoLapin's terrific camping recordings have been an inspiration to me as well. I have as well been thinking about getting a high quality recorder and to take to camping again, but it can't be this year.

Many thanks for sharing, I look forward to listening tonight...

By the way I was still hoping for some catches from the typical festivals where a lot of camping is involved, such as Rock am Ring, Wacken, and so on...

Was anybody there and is waiting for some encouraging words to post recordings or stories?

Very nice recording - would have been great to continue, but sometimes you are not in charge of that! Thanks for sharing. :D

Thank you so much for sharing this. The outdoor ones are my fav. I dunno why, but often there is this sense of the girl both wanting to hold back but also this real thrill at the same time.

Dang that was nice. I wish you got the rest of it. Did you run out of space in the phone or did the battery die etc? Have to figure out what happened so you can keep it from happening again.

One Q, did you stand there with the phone or did you ditch the phone and go back and get it? I am a fan of ditching and fetching. Less self inflicted handling noise.

I'm still not sure why the phone stopped recording. I walked away from the tent, went to stop the recording and found that it had already stopped.

I was stood against the tent holding my phone. It was a strangely exhilarating experience, on one hand I was sh!tting myself on the other I was massively excited.

My phone's a brand new Galaxy Note 4 so I didn't really want to leave it next to the tent.

I'm currently trying to find somewhere in Plymouth that sells usb stick recorders. I can't order online as would need to explain to the wife!

I'm going camping again at the end of the month so I want the chance to capture some more sounds...

Really an excellent recording. I cleaned up the sound some with Adobe Audition and the result was that I could clearly hear them breathing. It's a shame the recording ended abruptly . How could you get close to the tent without being heard? It would seem to me that it wouldn't be possible to avoid crunching gravel and rustling grass.
I'm thinking that if I get to go camping next Summer I would rig up a fishing pole that I could hang the recorder from to get it close to the tent walls. Last time I went camping I tried to record a young couple in the neighboring tent. My mp3 player/recorder had the annoying function of having an illuminated screen. When the couple went out to town for dinner I laid my recorder, face down, as near to their tent as I dared. I could hear them having sex after they returned and again in the morning. I retrieved my recorder in the morning and found that it hadn't been in recording mode, so got nothing to share. I had to pack up my tent the next morning and to head for home. I could see that the girl was very embarrassed about my possibly overhearing them . I kept a straight face and her boy friend tried to reassure her. Am hoping to buy a quality Olympus recorder, maybe with an external directional mic. Don't know how I would explain this to my wife though.

Thank you for the effort. Nice one. Lots of rustling sleeping-bag noise [as opposed to squeaky bed-springs] and quiet sighs. I think it was just getting to the business-end when the recording stopped but, as a previous comment stated, you don't get to control the situation. :)
