Close proximity - one couple was one shot only.

The other - in room 709 - well - she was pretty amazing! See last for my estimate of what she looked like.. :)

Wow. How do you manage to capture all of these lovely sounds?!
Are these multiple sessions? If so, could provide additional details?
Thanks again for sharing!!!

Didn't get much sleep.

Soleil - on my iphone I keep a grid showing every mic and location. A while ago I lost two nice ones purely because I lost track.

So the list has the mic nickname, location (room#) and abbreviated description (FA - Fire Alarm Wall Unit; #Panel = top of room number panel; Blkhd = behind/underneath nearby bulkhead door., etc). I keep those locations and descriptions until I upload to my laptop and clear the recorder. If I have this: Rm1012-FA -- Rm617ExitFixture - the double dash (- -) means I transferred the mic to another location so won't forget how to name recordings.
Below this, I have room notes - so 315 - ? will indicate possible candidate but unsure where a heart symbol will indicate rooms where I have had very good luck that evening.
It's not as timeconsuming as the description may indicate, but the prep really makes juggling multiple recordings a lot more manageable.

I then try to scout for promising rooms and plant recorders by midnight - except one. Then I leave all of them and use one mic as a walk-around to catch anything I come across live. About 3AM I gather and upload everything or change out to avoid power loss on any of the recorders. As I move or retrieve them, I update the list immediately on the iphone. You have no idea how important this is. With all the hormones and endorphines cruising your brain doing this hobby, it's amazing how easy it is to lose track.

I started this because awhile ago, I picked up a mic that I didn't expect too much from and picked up a great sound from it... and had no idea where I had placed/retrieved it..

My favorite is the very last one - e with floor splicings (dodging security so had to pickup and move and go back several times. So cut out the rough static from handling the mic and glued all the bits together in Audacity.

Thing I like about this file is the adorable little "Yelp!" she gives at the beginning indicating the moment his penis finds it's way into her again. From the files before I have to hope they used a good lubricant so she wouldn't suffer abrasions..our boy didn't hold anything back on this one.

Physicist - please put your name handle to work and invent this!!!

87.. Skip down several replies - I made a listing with Amazon.com Links you may find helpful. Also, for a walkaround, I have just ordered an Olympus linear device. Figured if I have to guard the damned thing I can pick up and pocket this as easily as a USB chip that could be more productive hidden elsewhere..

Hope this helps you.. Good hunting!

I think it would be cheaper and more profitable to crowdfund a hotel somewhere in France, kitted specifically for our purposes. :p

Small rooms, carpeted corridors, hard room floors. Quick exits. 24 hour checkin. thin doors with a large door gap.

Think of the possibilities.

Also I'm a physicist, not an engineer :D (nerd joke)

Also - Acrylic walls and ceilings in corridor. The hotel in Beverly Hills was really funky. Boutique - and BLACK Dark interior. Only soft surface was the carpeted floor. The paneling on the ceiling and floor were black acrylic panels and lighting was miniature dimmed MR16 lamps - enough to move around safely but very dark ambient. And the room number panels were lit and had enough of a shelf on them - so a black plastic USB recorder on top was completely invisible. I could do a contest and the only way would be a lucky guess. Even two feet away I couldn't tell the recorder was there! The acoustics though were phenomenal - if something lively was going on, it was easy to hear from anywhere. I also liked the relatively small size. About 30 rooms max per floor. I think it's also under different management than original. Elevator said to use room card to access floor buttons - but that was disengaged. So took a chance. Each floor had two security cameras - nicely hidden - but hey us professionals can spot almost anything. I think they are either not used or they don't care. During wanderings I ran into staff and security and got nothing except a 'good evening!' Unless you have a complaint against you they can care less.

On the other hand, the hotel downtown has a security guy I have seen many times. I passed him several times and I would just give a big smile and "good evening". In this case he has a regular beat - so after cruising past him 5th time was getting the grunt and glare. Then ran into him in the elevator and he said - man you have no idea what floor you want to be on! I punched the floor immediately below the one we got the elevator and replied that what he was really asking is am I a guest? My room number is __________ My last name is _____________ and I have no good reason for walking around the hotel except just trying to work off some nervous energy - personal quirk. Then I gave him another smile and exited. Saw him twice after that and he completely ignored me. If you have to sin, sin openly. I am very friendly with the front desk and management. Hotel being that it's now a party place was built in the '50s and has some neat design features. I have walked the lobby with the general manager and talked about them and the history of the building and area. So with the drunks they have to deal with - "if some history nerd wants to stay a lot - doesn't cause trouble - and spends sleepless nights walking around - it's his money!" At least I think that might have been the response the guy got when he called me in which I'm sure he did.

Ok - In short..

1: 'Disposable' Mics -
Silver casing comes off with bit of care. Nice sound capture, good for risk taking due to cheap price - ie no hiding places and you need to leave by the door to walk around to avoid others. Small. Only drawback is they break after 1-2 months:

2: Middle of the Road - Walkaround Mic
Gray casing - not going to blend in but in dark corridors I notice if you plant vertically with mic hole up for exposure, the finish turns to black and very difficult to see. But leave horizontal and it's easy to spot. So I have one that I use for walking around to place at door gap. Nice sound as well. Better build than cheap unit. Will last forever.

3: Premium (White)
White casing. Have placed vertical by door jam and white blends almost perfectly. So easy to hide. Blends also with white color fire alarm wall fixtures, can place on top wall valences, exit signs and even corridor a/c control if there are any - unless someone is looking for it, really hides well. Also records in MP3 rather than WAV. And you can toggle Vox/Continuous - be careful to choose the correct one! Also place to hide silvery thing. At it's price, I don't take risks with this - will not leave unguarded by door gap.

4: Premium (Black)
Matte Black Casing. Very similar to white mentioned above - same features as white, but no silver tag to hide. Also, I think this has a better mic package than the white. The white is very good, but the black is noticeably better - Look at my Beverly Hills posts and go to the finale for room 520 - and that was at a door number panel and not the floor! Again, at it's price do not take unnecessary risks with this one. Also the only problem I had with this was after a few months, my computer wouldn't read it. I figured I had nothing to lose so did a reformat FAT on it - restored everything PERFECTLY without disrupting the recording firmware. Has been fine ever since.

I think I'm also going to post this in the How To thread..
