File Archive

Hello Everyone:
What about this idea, a free trial to archives for 30 days and after that if you like what you've heard you can pay to gain access. This could be an opportunistic approach that could grow our community...This is just a suggestion, thoughts please.

You could suck the entire contents out in a month easy.
If the tech were there I could see giving access but only streaming the first 60 seconds of the file or what not. But, really, the stuff that is on the boards is the stuff the archive is made out of, so outside of there being a shitload of it, the content is pretty much the same.

Good input bro...just food for thought, however giving 60 second snippets might not be such a bad idea as a apptizer to the real show.

One thought I had is maybe the occasional repost of a file from the archives. Maybe one file from some of the more prolific posters. Nothing much, maybe a file a month or something. Someone might hear something and think "oh I want to hear more of that" and join the archives.

The best way to check if the archives are worth it is to check the old threads and their comments. Then you'll know.

That`s true however I think also the threads with appended recording should be a quite good appetizer

I agree that a free trial, for so long would've counter productive, either everything would be copied or someone could make up multiple profiles to gain access. 60 second snippets not s bad idea but my favourite is a re-post every now and again. Having said all that there's enough on here, if you know where to look, to give anyone a very good taste of the site and what it's about. Maybe people should come on more often if they want to listen to sexy sounds for free. Great idea to be thinking about though

I appreciate the feedback, how do you all feel about a "Best of Series" from different areas (members, hotel/motel, neighbors, outside, various) that would give all of us a chance to listen to some we may have missed through the years.

That would just defeat the purpose of the archives.

I would respectfully disagree compadre, picking some of the favorites for each category and start a best of series. Similar to sitcoms on televison that show snippets of the best/favorite of the series. Start from the beginning of the community and reprise the sounds that were down loaded the most for that year.

Again, that would just defeat the purpose of the archive because if all you have is a best of series, its nothing more than a covert and rather convenient way to be able to listen to "the best of" in the archives without having to pay.
Its not like you listen to "the worst of" when you have access to the archives now, do you? No, you listen to the stuff you really like. If I had the best of from each category, having access to the archives wouldn't make any sense.
The way to judge the archive's content is to go through the old threads and the comments. You'll find plenty of positive reviews of captures. Members sometimes have gone to great lengths to get them.

I think, that the idea is not good. The content which is free for download gives a very good impression about what you will find in the archives, and the lenght of free recordings is rahter big, so if somebody do not want to get instant acсess (whether because he is not impressed with the recordings, or he do not have enough money at the moment), I have great doubts that after listening some additional stuff from the archives he will change his mind, and the opposite case is quite possible.
