Getting rid of music and other noise is next to impossible. The general feeling here is just to post the raw file and let people hack at it as they will. People try to listen for different things in files. Posting the raw file gives everybody the most latitude to extract what they are after.

Your files will not be the first with radio or TV, HVAC or road noise in the background. Some of my favorite files (sadly) have some parts obliterated by noise. Wile it sucks, it does make it authentic.

I totally agree with reggind when it comes to posting the raw file, for members to hear and process if they want to try.

However, if your request relates to you personally wanting to clean up files, I would suggest a quick go with the new DeNoise tool in Audition. It won't work miracles, but it does help improve files in my experience and is very easy/quick to apply. It also doesn't add the 'alien' sounds associated with a lot of noise reduction processes.

If you want to see if it helps, PM me a link to any file and I'll run it through DeNoise before sending it back. That way you can judge for yourself. Alternatively, I posted some examples in a thread about the tool. You can have a listen here;

BTW, there MAY be some amazing breakthroughs in noise reduction coming before too long. I have been following a thing for video called noise2noise which uses a very well trained AI to remove noise from noisy photos. I don't see why the same thing could not be applied to audio, though I have not found any hints of it as of yet. I am not the brightest bulb in the string so if I have thought about it someone smarter than me has.

If you want to see a cool video on this technology google noise2noise nvidia and look for youtube videos.

It may take a bit more work, I'm most familiar with Audacity. I'm thinking a good way to strip off music is to use Shazam to identify the song and then probably download the song as a sample noise & then apply it throughout the file length so that audacity will definitely wipe it relatively clean.. but then we're talking about a song by song basis so it'll take time. Just my $0.02.
