this is my first post so I had better start by thanking everyone here for sharing their "experiences". After finding this forum I got hold of the smallest device I could afford - I really need not to get caught by the wife, or anyone else! - in the shape of an iriver 899 with 1 gig memory, and a tiny lapel mike on a 2 metre lead. This will record about 15 hours on a fresh battery at 128kbps and 44.1khz (until the battery runs out).
Unfortunately, my hotel/staying away experiences since I bought the recorder have not yielded any recordings worth listening too - the little action I heard was just too faint, however when I had to stay away for the night a couple of weeks ago I set the recorder up with the mic on the bedside table, and left it running. The batterys just lasted long enough to catch my wife having her "bedtime ritual".
We have kids in the house, so my wife tends towards the quiet side, although I have some great recordings of us together where she just doesnt care and gets pretty loud
.
