Could be in luck

Spent all day helping the guy parked next to me in an old trailer in the site next to me. His girlfriend is arriving tomorrow after being apart for 5 weeks. He is late thirties and in good shape she should be too. I have a USB recorder and am trying to figure out the best way to hide it. How close do you have to be when you are outside?

The device needs to be within (at most) 3 metres of the target vehicle. Actually, even closer if all
the windows are gonna be closed. That's what makes vehicle recordings so difficult.

Ok I was in luck. Planted the mike about 5 feet away. Took the family out to supper so when he and his girlfriend got back they had no one next to them. They were quite vocal. My problem is the recording is 2.5 hours long and I can not for the life of figure out how to cut out the before and after to reduce it to 50 megs. Tried to find the settings in audacity but no go. Help!

Sounds promising ;-)

I see three good alternative ways to get this done:

1) Splitting the file ... using audacity would mean to save it in parts, or using a file splitting tool (like mp3 splitter and joiner).
2) Upload it to a (free) service like wetransfer.com and share the link here.
3) Send it to my email yeppie@yeppie.org and I will do (1) for you.

Now you choose and we wait :-)
