New script for the Archives

As nobody asked, I will announce the news: Since sunday we have a new script working in the files archives.
Not only a new look is being introduced but it brings a completely changed way of handling files into operation. On the other hand the frontend structure of the archives remains similar to what you have become used to. You will find a short introduction on the starting page of the archives.

Please have a look (still at http://yeppie.org/php/index.php) and give some feedback. Hope you will like it.

I like the new appearance of the archives, however, I miss the "last uploads" link. Is there a new way to directly access the newest uploads? :?:

Thanks!

The missing "latest uploads" function is the drawback of the new script. There is a report like that but it is only available in the backend (administration) so far. I wrote to the coder and hope to have a solution soon.

In the meantime you have to make do with the Daily Digest here:
http://www.yeppie.org/ssl-forum/viewtop ... 1&start=60

I´m aware of the disadvantages because there are no direct links to the folders/files.

There is another inofficial workaround that maybe slightly better. Check out
http://www.yeppie.org/php/showrecent.php?

Still no direct links (if you click on one of the links on that site, it will lead you to the new srcipt) but if you open that one in another browser tab, you can collect the latest 50 files.

Sorry for the inconvienience which I hope won´t last long. After thinking about the situation I came to the conclusion that the pros outweigh the cons. What´s your opinion?

I have just added the link to the old "latest uploads" search to the start page of the new archives script. That´s all I can do myself but if there´s a php expert reading this, embedding this function to the script would make you an active member and a respected member of our community :-)

As there have been a few complaints about the Archives software and as I am not too happy with the performance myself, I ask you for your opinion again. Please help before I start installing another script which means hours if not days of work.

Besides answering you are invited to tell me bugs / errors you encountered when visiting the archives.

If you do know a superior file management software a link would be very much appreciated. I do have two or three candidates in mind but I am not sure if the best solution is amongst them. Open Source is preferred but I would even invest a few Euros or bucks.

Thanks

The implementation of a brand new script for the archives is to be finished in short time. From what I can say now, it looks better than anything before. I will keep you informed.

Some might have noticed that again the Files Archives look different. The new script has been installed and set to work last night. I am pretty confident that this solution will be one for the next years.

But all is up to you and your satisfaction with the software. Please give some feedback, especially (but not only) if you find bugs or errors like files that cannot be downloaded.

Thank you
