Broken .m4a file

I need you guys!

I have a night-long, in-room recording that should be great, but the tablet's battery died and the 700Mb file can not be read by VLC or Audacity... I tried online converters to try and put it in wav or something, but it won't.

I think the hex index is fucked because of the shutdown that did not let the app (Android audio recorder) write it down properly. The thing is that I don't know how to fix the file; I just installed a hex editor software... I have a linux desktop, no Windows here.

Does anyone know how to fix this kind of error?
Please and thank you.

Hi there,

m4a files are encoded in either AAC or ALAC.

If it's AAC then maybe this thread can be of help:

Good luck!

Post the file someplace and have some people with Windows PC's have a look at it. There are a lot of tools, do a quick google search, but most of them seem to be Windows based, or require Windows based tools. You may be able to play with some of the tools under wine.
