New (again) and need advice on VLC or similar

Hi All,

I briefly joined maybe a year ago and posted an audio clip of couple in a New York hotel. I will re-upload. Since then, I have some more recordings, mostly from France that are absolutely unreal. I struck gold at one hotel, and when travel is allowed again I'm going back to see if I get lucky again.

I need advice though. I've figured out the exact audio settings in VLC player (not just EQ, but compressor and spatialzer) in order to get rid of the white noise and get best quality. But based on articles online, it looks like any ability to apply this to a saved file was in previous versions of VLC.

What's the gold standard (free or low price) without going to Logic or ProTools etc for being able to custom process audio?

Looking forward to posting all of these.

Welcome back!

the no. 1 free tool is definitely Audacity. It already provides you with a bunch of effects, but like every propper audio software, you can of course also install further plugins.

Hi and welcome back!

If you want you can download a previous version of VLC. At least if you're using Windows, just search the internet.

However, many of us here prefer the original recordings, so you really don't need to worry about it.
