LIVE@HOTEL

Post by mrgraham99 »

I'm here while the wife is travelling, equipped and ready to deliver you something.

An old run down hotel, terrible soundproofing...at the moment i've got a screaming baby hitting my bathroom from the next corridor.

I've got my trustworthy Olympus......and I've got two of these magnetic STTWUNAKE devices, has anyone used them?

I'm patrolling, but its early

I guess I'm late as you probably were looking for an answer yesterday.

I have the same USB's as you posted. At the moment I only have one, 8GB. I used it several times this summer. There is a configurable file where you can set different options, the one that will make your life easier or harder is the GAIN. In the beginning I had too much gain on it, and when action was captured there were all kind of noises around it. I lowered a bit the gain and I have much better time afterwards to find action and to reduce noise in the files.

From 0 to 7 (7 is the highest level) I think I have in level number 4 right now. It all depends on the scenario you are located and the noises (air conditioning, elevator, other guests...) you have around the place you leave the USB.

Good luck and looking forward for what you captured this weekend

Edit: BTW although recording isn't the highest quality, the USB has a magnet which opens a lot of possibilities on where to leave it during your stay.

Thanks for the info, for all my efforts I captured nothing...the one positive from the evening was the new devices....they stick to fire estinguishers perfectly although the volume was a little low.

Soundproofing was poor, but the noise of the water pipes was even worse.

@Take, where do you change the GAIN, does the software reference the TXT file? I can't access the "set disk time" file because MAC isn't supported?

What battery life are you getting from the device? I ran for 12 hours with no issues (about 1GB data consumed)

I'll buy another two and try somewhere different next weekend. PM me if you want to help choosing the venue :-)
