upstairs or downstairs

if I bought a duplex and offered free rent for a couple that fucks loud should I give them the upstairs or downstairs for the best listening spot?

Man, free rent is pretty tempting. Just throw in a willingness to babysit, and my wife and I will make you happy.
But seriously, definitely upstairs unless there is a common passage on the first floor where you could hide a recorder.

I would prefer them below me as I would place my wall listening device on the floor right above their bedroom. I did this once at a hotel and could hear everything crystal clear, even the keystrokes on the woman's iphone. My heart was racing like mad lol
