What makes a location successful

Just wanted to get everyone's input on this. Been doing it quite a while, and with some decent successes. But I'm often surprised when I have success and when I don't.

Over the years I've had success in Vegas every time I've went. The hotels are huge which gives you a lot of options. People are there to have fun, which often involves sex. And most are drinking a lot which can help things progress. You also have a great chance of seeing a couple since they're often mingling in the common areas and/or gambling. Unfortunately on this Valentines Day weekend, I completely struck out. It hasn't happened before. It was at a brand new, upscale hotel and I wasn't very familiar with the layout and rhythm of that spot. Maybe that's why?

Here are a few things that I think improve chances:

1) Older hotels are better than new
2) I tend to have better luck at moderately priced than high-end hotels
3) Party towns (like Vegas, Nashville, New Orleans, etc.) can be very productive
4) But the timing in those cities can be tough - sometimes in the wee hours of morning...like 4 or 5 am
5) Finding locations, cities and hotels where young couples gather increases success
6) Hanging out in elevator lobbies can help you find good candidates
7) By contrast, wandering hotel hallways listening for sounds can also lead to success but it can also be like a needle in a haystack
Looking for drunk couples (but not too drunk) can also help

Any other items that you feel helps set you up for success? I was really surprised at my lack of success this weekend.

Am one of those people that stick out and I travel with family a lot so I am not brave enough for hotel captures unless the noise is coming from adjoining room

The most recordings I made are outdoor.I look for public car parks or parks. Hidden or secluded places that has vegetative cover for my device. Also I usually scout places and check the ground, am usually looking for tissues..wipes and of course condom wrappers!

Lastly if the Location is within proximity of nightlife, University or a big city then big chance young couples stop for a session.My favourite sound harvest spot sits between a city and small town so couples usually pull in there after leaving the bars in the city.

I also prefer outdoors, I scouted my area with google maps for nightclubs that have decently sized parks next to them - unfortunately, that can be hard to find. But also very good are bodies of water - rivers, lakes, or oceans, next to larger towns, and with beaches or grass areas for couples to lie down and enjoy the evening.
Party locations in general have a lot of couples hooking up, so any park, beach or hotel next to party hotspots will also likely see action during the night.

When it comes to hotels, I think you already named the key factors. I'd say success rate is improved by: city center with nightclubs closeby, adult only (less families with kids), moderately priced to appeal to younger people, holiday destinations, weekends, events/concerts, and large hotels, because more people = better chances.

I try to find hotels that are either old or very cheap, check reviews for "thin walls" or similar noise complaints.
