Waiver of sleep at night in favor of wandering hotel corridors, choosing the right locations, a lot of bravery and some luck ... that´s what I´d say as a result of my experiences. Sndprv, would you like to wise us up?
The answer to how I was able to catch so much was pretty much answered by yeppie, although I don't really think
any bravery is involved because I'm a cautious and calculating person. You don't really need to be brave if you have
considered all (or almost all) eventualities.
The reason nobody notices me is because nobody sees me recording or sees my recorder (which is about the same size as a cell
phone anyway). Unlike some people on this forum, I prefer to hold the recorder at all times (except for a few outdoor recordings
I've done), and not leave it outside a room door and then wander off (which I think is madness).
Anyway...
Stay tuned for two hot recordings I did early Saturday morning! I'll start posting them on Sunday.

What are some of the precautions you take? I'm going to be staying in a hotel tonight and I want to record but I don't have any experience. I plan to scout out the hotel when I first get there to get a feel for the place and to make sure there aren't any cameras in the hall. I figured I would start hunting for sounds around 10 pm by walking through the halls and listening. I'm not sure how I'd go about recording the sounds if I find any though. My best plan is to keep the recorder up my sleeve and to slip it out and hold it by the bottom of the door while pretending to tie my shoe. It seems like that would do ok concealing the recorder and also give me a reason to be there. I'd love to hear any other ideas.
I use a mixture of approaches - during my latest hotel stay I had up to four four recorders running simultaneously which seems to be a bit excessive even to me
I have two cheaper mp3 recorders which I let on two different floors (one on top of a cupboard and the other one on an emergency exit sign). While a more expensive mp3 recorder did his job outside my room´s window (recording the inner courtyard), my digital voice recorder accompanied me on my walks through the hotel corridors. Whenever I recognize an interesting noise from one of the rooms, I stop and direct it near the room´s door. As this device has about the size of a mobile phone I pretend to listen to a message when someone is walking by, sometime I even simulate a conversation.
Until today I did not behave suspicious enough to get into trouble but the fact that more hotels have cams on their floors nowadays could become a problem.
one thing I started doing was placing the recorder on top of the emergency lights in the hallway. If you push it back far enough you can't see it. Unless you are a really tall person. Haven't caught anything yet using this approach.
For me this method worked (only) once but the result was a decent recording. It wasn´t actually the emergency lights but another place on a hotel floor where the device wasn´t too openly placed. And I had the luck that the action took place in the room next to the placed recorder.
I decided it was best to post the recordings of these two couples on the same day (today)
so you can compare them, because I can prove to you that they had sex at the same time.
Their rooms were very near to each other, on opposite sides of the corridor.
Gasping moaner - Saturday morning
Now I possibly saw this couple but I'm not absolutely sure it was the same couple having sex in this
recording. I started recording them at around 1:50 am, Saturday. The couple I saw arrived at (or returned to)
the hotel at about 1:30 am and went up to the same floor. They both looked mid/late twenties and were both
above average height. The woman had long brownish hair and wore a short skirt (her legs were bare).
Then, just after 2am, an Oriental couple staying in a room very close to theirs, started having sex. Who knows, maybe
they heard the first couple and were turned on by the sounds. The first couple's sounds were very audible from just outside
the Oriental couple's room - see my next post.
There are three parts to this session.

I caught a glimpse of the young East Asian (possibly Chinese) woman in this recording. She was about 5' 8'', looked
mid/late twenties, had long black hair, and was casually dressed.
As I mentioned in my previous post, they had sex at the same time (about 2am) as UK Couple 20 (who started first) - and
I can even prove this to you.
There are two parts to this session.
There is not much sound from them in the second half of Part 1, but if you listen from 6:57 until the end (a few seconds),
you can hear the woman in UK Couple 20. At this point, I decided to quickly shoot over to UK Couple 20 to record more
of them, and then I went back to recording the Oriental Couple again.
Listen to the hot sounds she makes when the guy climaxes (towards the end of Part 2).

What struck me about this couple, was that they didn't look like they were in a relationship; there wasn't
any warmth between them at all. I didn't see the young Oriental woman smile at all (in fact, she looked a bit
displeased about being in a hotel after 1 in the morning), and she followed the African-born guy into the room,
rather than walk with him, if you know what I mean. Nevertheless, she sounded like she had a good time with
this guy, and it was obvious to me from the moment I first saw them, that they were in the hotel primarily for
sex, which led me to believe that this woman was possibly prostituting herself - that and also because of
the clothes she was wearing.
She was petite in build, looked mid-twenties, was 5' 7'' (or under), and had longish black hair. She wore jean
shorts and a pair of dark coloured leggings beneath those. The man looked about the same age, was about
5' 9'' or 5' 10'' tall, had dark brown skin, had a chubby medium build, and was casually dressed.
The woman's sounds are louder and more interesting in the second half of the recording, but be sure to listen
to the slapping sounds from 4:07 to 4:09.

It sounded like the couple staying in the room next to this couple were having sex at the same time,
but they were a quiet couple, and so the sounds I got from them were very faint, even when the
louder couple's music had been turned off. So I have decided not to upload the quieter couple
(there's not much to hear anyway).
Half-caste dude bangs big brunette
This mid-twenties-looking couple arrived at the hotel at around 1am, Sunday, but they went out somewhere first,
before returning to the hotel and having this session at around 3am.
They were both about 5' 11'' tall and were both wearing casual urban clothing. The slim guy was mixed-race - most
probably half-black, half-white - with light brown skin. The full-figured (but not 'fat') woman had longish dark hair and
looked ethnic Southern European or ethnic Western Asian. She wore dark trousers and a dark top. I noticed they were
both in a happy mood.
The woman's loud moans could easily be heard half-way down the corridor, even though the music in their room was fairly loud.
What's more, the neighbouring couple started to have a quiet session of their own at the time, but what I caught from them isn't
really worth posting.
There are four parts to this session. There was some activity further down the corridor at the time - guests going in and out -
so I was forced to stop and start the recorder a few times.
In Parts 1 and 3, you can easily hear her passionately moaning the guy's name.
In Part 3, you can hear her saying, "I'm cumming!" a few times.
Part 4 is just a short recording of her moaning away. I extracted this from one of the sound files I made when I was recording the
next-door couple, which is why it sounds a bit further away.

The attractive, cheerful South-East Asian looking woman in this recording - most probably a Filipina - arrived at the hotel
first at around 1:30 am. The man she had sex with arrived about two hours later; I saw her greet him with a quick kiss near
the front entrance.
She looked to be in her early thirties, was about 5' 8'' (or under), was slim (but shapely), and her longish black hair was
tied in a bun at the back. She wore gold-coloured shoes and white tights (or perhaps stockings) under a long dark coat.
The (brown-haired?) thirties-looking man was distinctly taller, had a medium build, and was casually dressed. He was
either European or South American in origin.
The purpose of their stay was primarily for sex; it didn't take long for them to get started. I think it's quite likely that this
woman was an escort.
The woman's sounds are faint during the first 3 minutes or so. Then her moans become louder from 3:28 onwards for about
2 minutes. The best part of the recording is from about 8:45 until the end - the action is more vigorous and their sounds are
loudest (you can hear the woman saying, "oh, yeah!" several times and the man's heavy breathing).

I tried this method recently near a room that had a couple that was obviously there to have sex. All I got was the girl talking loud, laughing and the guy talking. When it came to the sex, you cannot hear anything. They must have been having sex quietly. I thought the idea of going to a hotel was to let out your orgasms because those sounds are to be expected there. Oh well. I would have caught something doing this if she was vocal during sex. The corridor was quiet I recorded for 6 hours in the evening into the early morning all I got was white noise.
Unfortunately, as with the previous recording, there is some unavoidable hissing noise in these.
European blonde and horny guy have hours of fun
I recorded this couple for a total time of about 50 minutes between 2 and 4:30 am on Friday morning. They were sexually
active for much of the night from the time of their arrival (about 1am).
The woman looked to be in her early thirties and was most likely Central European in origin (Czech, Slovakian, Polish). She had
permed, shoulder-length, extra light-blonde hair. She had pale skin, was slim, was about 5' 10'' tall, and was casually dressed
(I recall she was wearing blue jeans). She had some luggage with her, which the man was helping her with. The guy was perhaps
in his mid/late thirties and was ethnic Mediterranean/Southern European - possibly British-born, but judging by his accent,
he must have spent some years abroad. He had olive skin, was about the same height with a chubby/stocky build, was also
casually dressed (he wore a black leather jacket), and had a wet-look hair style (black hair).
There are a total of six files. I have split the recording into three main 'sessions', separated by 15-45 minute intervals, during which
time they were taking breaks.
There was some definite oral activity going on. It sounds like she's giving him oral in Part 1 of Session 2 and also in Session 3.
I think my favourite part is from 6:27 to 7:40 in Part 2 of Session 2 - she moans loudly with her mouth covered with something,
followed by her heavy breathing.
Towards the end of Part 4 of Session 2, he says something about not wanting to cause her too much "pain", so maybe
there was something kinky going on at some stage - bondage and/or S&M?
