I found myself posting TMI about my own stuff, so in an effort to stay on topic, I decided to do my intro post and get it all out. I am here for a few reasons, I've always known overhearing folks was pretty hot, having heard it as a kid staying over at a friends house, but that experience was so normal seeming it didnt stick in my mind that much(was just his sister +livein BF, I even talked to the guy after, hardly voyeuristic at all, they were pretty much broadcasting and acting all cool).
Later on, as an adult I never gave it much thought until I ended a very long relationship and realized how badly I missed the ease of getting sex, it was almost purely biological it was like I was going nutz because I had no outlet for my boys, it almost wasn't even about sex. During the breakup, I end up at a sleazy hotel and while I'm feeling sorry for myself watching infomercials the neighbors where having a great time. Almost immediately, my hearts beating out of my chest and holy shit, I felt alive again. Further reflection brought me around to the obvious points, why the hell are they so happy, this place sucks and they live here. The social issues I was worried about, seemed fairly irrelevant and I think the whole thing made me think about who we all are as people, animals and entities with needs. Not to mention a fabulous wank and no one was the wiser, ah now I can sleep.
I'm a bit of a crafty scheming mind (tho not malicious in any way), so I realized the novelty of my situation, I could get through this time and keep myself entertained. Once things were back to normal with me, uh oh! I missed the sleazy hotel!!
Now, I've made it a kind of hobby. I know some of the more likely rooms and which hotels have the best walls and loudest A/Cs. I'm also an electrician so when the $50 wall listener I bought from china did not work out, I took it apart, saw the peizo contacts, hit a few youtube electronics refreshers and it was on. Yesterday I made my first (TINY) preamp circuit and tied to to a pair of headphones and a peizo transducer. Viola, amplified contact mic. Still working on it, but I hope to get some pretty clear recordings (soooo tired of putting my ear to the wall). For me, its all about putting myself right there in the room audio-wise, without being noticed and certainly without messing up their fine evening. I have a feeling my next GF and I will go on vacation alot now so we can 'give back' to the neighbors
