I'm thinking of designing a wall listening device. This device would be portable with a touch screen (sort of like the iphone). The device would use a laser to detect wall vibrations and convert them to sound, also it would save the captured sounds in a flash stick or through the USB port to a computer.
I wonder if there is a demand for a device like this, if so how much would it be worth?
Any input will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Im sure there would be a high demand.. but probably also a high level of questions from the military, police, cia, mi6, etc as well
Pretty sure similiar devices exist, but only for the type of services mentioned. Doubt they would let anything like that out on the 'open market'.

Re: Wall Listening laser device
The plans are out there, a simple google of "optical listening device" came up with top hits that actually include plans and parts listings. It looks feasible, practical maybe?

Oh, Mouser.com, digikey.com will have all the parts and supplies. To keep them from getting ideas on what you are building, spread out your orders among several suppliers. Transistors and amps from mouser, hardware and mounts from digikey, the laser from ebay... Just be ready to pay a premium for some of this stuff, try for assemblies.
