I’ll load the clip in a few minutes and if you want to you can skip all this info, but it does put it in a context and also explain why not to expect too much.
I discovered this long lost MiniDisk with a few other tapes very recently. It was in a small box marked “Review” and having now listened to a couple it's obvious why. They're all those hard to hear or not sure if there is naughty stuff going on type. They're all also from the dim and distant past. Having nothing else to work on I decided to give some a go and it is fun wondering if I'll find anything. As each MiniDisk has two hours recording time it's also quite time consuming.
The MiniDisk this clip is from was rather optimistically named "Neighbor 01" and I'll say more on that later. First some background. A nearby house is a multi-let and at the time there was a girl in the upstairs back bedroom. She was very attractive from a distance, but slightly rough at the edges when you got close. She was probably there for about 18 months before anything attracted my attention. (A bit slow I know, but this forum didn't exist at the time, so I wasn't actively looking.)
It was one of those rare sunny Sunday afternoons and I was sat in the garden when I heard quite loud sounds of sex. Looking up, I saw her window was open and the sounds were definitely coming from there, so I sat and listened to the impressive show. That evening I was out looking when it got dark and the window was open with the light on, so I nipped back in to get the recorder. When I got back out however, the room was in darkness with the window closed. There then followed a week of rainy weather and no more opportunities. However the night before I went on holiday I went out when it got dark and saw an open window with lights on. I returned with the recorder and the result is the clip.
When I set up the recorder I didn’t realise that anything was going on, but as can be heard from the clip it obviously was from the start of recording. I was packing for the hols, so left the recorder running and collected it back about midnight. Although the mic was set the best I could for the open window, it’s sod’s law that it’s done a brilliant job picking up everything I didn’t want, including the neighbors in their kitchen and the rest of the world at large. What seemed like a quiet summer’s night, sounds anything but when listening to the recording in its raw state. The general level was also quite low for some reason.
As for the sex in the clip it doesn’t sound like a straight fuck to me and I’d be very happy for any imaginative suggestions. Although I haven’t a clue if this fact is significant, I did see something on the first Sunday night when the light was on. The head of the bed was right by the window and hanging from the nearest bedpost was a pair of handcuffs wrapped in pink fur. That said, the session goes on for nearly 20 mins and there are longish periods of silence when the passion seems to subside. Although nearly all the sound is the girl, her boyfriend was there, as I heard is voice quite clearly on other parts of the disk.
I said the name on the MiniDisk (Neighbor 01) was optimistic and that’s because it was the only one. I didn’t actually get to listen to the tape before my holidays, but after my return I was straight out with the recorder on the strength of the Sunday afternoon alone, but sad to say she’d moved. As I’ve said already, don’t expect too much and I will load it soon.

Re: Long Lost Neighbor Recording
Here’s the actual clip I described in my last post and it’s had to be heavily processed. I cut all the considerable noise in the lower and higher frequencies outside her range. I also had to remove areas of frequency with the very loud bits of neighbors talking and making a racket in their kitchen. I also had to reduce the volume of a terrible periodic whine in a particular frequency from a distant factory. There is about 50 secs in total missing, but hope the many joins and blank bits of frequency aren’t too noticeable. I did have to use some noise reduction and found that the Adaptive type worked best. Not perfect again, but it helps a bit I think. I’ll post the before and after pictures for you to see some time later.

Think you're right there, but never mind Seeing the post has made me think about the clip again, as the latest Audition CC has a new NR feature. When I have time I might re-visit it and see if any of the new stuff can help improve things. The feature is called 'Sound Remover' and identifies specific sounds you want removing. That's if it works though!ptempo wrote:nice story emmpet8 thanks

I have had a quick look, but the jury is still out as far as I'm concerned. It looks impressive in the Adobe tutorials, but they were actually made before the software was finished and released. Here's a link so you can take a look.

When I looked on YouTube by searching "adobe audition cc sound remover" there seemed quite a bit, but haven't had time to view it. I'm a bit busy at the moment with some video editing that's overdue and trying to enjoy the warm weather too.
One point worth noting when you say 'investing' is that it's subscription only now via Creative Cloud, or that's what I think is the case. I did post in the software section pointing out you can try it for 30 days free. You do have to pay a months subscription, but get a full refund if you cancel within the 30 days. There are also offers for reduced price Creative Cloud subscriptions available until the end of July.
If you think this is better in the software section please move it there. Hope this helps a bit and I will report back in full when I've had time to try it properly for myself.
