Festival Recording

Going to a large rock festival in a few weeks. Anyone had any luck recording at one of these? Any tips? I'm going to scout out some affectionate looking couples to pitch tent as close as possible to, for a start

Sounds like a good plan, the only better option would be to look for an affectionate looking girl to pitch as close as possible to and get her into your tent

My previous attempts haven't yielded much luck. The background noise is a constant during the day, and I've had no luck with escaping the company I was attending with for prolonged prowling at night. If you're attending alone, you might have more luck. From witnessing the behaviour of my crew, I'd say that the mornings would be prime prowling time for already established couples. I've noticed friends who're coupled up hanging back. Presumably their theory is that they won't be missing any decent bands that early on. If you've got a decent recorder, its low cut setting might save your bacon for daytime captures.

Wavelab with RX Denoiser is great at removing that festival boom boom, i think the rx suite also has a standalone version (without need for wavelab) has some great tools to remove mains hum, random background noise etc and enhance what you do want to hear
