hey folks - trying something a little unusual here, creating a thread before I've got the sound to upload, but i've set a plan in motion and I wanted to share the idea.
Earlier on tonight, i was at a birthday party for an acquaintance. When it was my time to leave, i left my jacket behind by accident (on purpose of course). The jacket just happens to have an mp3 player in the pocket, which just happens to be recording... what a coincidence!
When i got home i called the birthday boy - "alright mate, left my bloody jacket at yours. Make sure nobody goes home with it and i'll pick it up tomorrow ok?" This means that either he'll move it in to his bedroom (and hopefully he'll pull tonight), or at the least nobody will pinch the thing, its the mp3 player i don't want stolen cos its not mine haha.
Either way, this could be my first catch in ages so I thought i'd let people know it might be worth checking back tomorrow night to see what i got, and hopefully someone else can use the same plan sometime even if it doesn't work for me tonight.

I was right, birthday boy moved my jacket in to his bedroom for safety. Turns out though, he didn't sleep there. Being the gentleman he is, he gave up his bed for this girl who was totally and utterly trashed!
She came upstairs a few hours in to the recording, collapsed on the bed and started snoring within minutes - didn't even bother to get her shoes off - classy chick!
I assumed the plan had failed, but checked through the remainder of the file out of desperation because its been so long since i caught anything... thank God i did!
At what i'm guessing must have been around 6AM, she wakes up, goes to the bathroom, sends a text message, and eventually decides to find out if the theory that an orgasm can help to relieve a hangover is true - RESULT!!!!
Its not a very long file, because most of the action wasn't obvious enough to be worth including. Quick tech question for you..... whenever I leave my MP3 player recording until the batteries run out.. the saved files are always corrupt and will not play.
Did you retrieve the recorder before the batteries expired or does your MP3 player have a function that saves files before the batteries run out?

Hey Mark - glad you enjoyed it... i'm hoping to try this idea more often once I've got my own mp3 player to risk it with.
The answer to your question is that I don't have a clue. This wasn't recorded on my gear, just some cheap unbranded player from the looks of it (probably off ebay), and it had a timed record function. I set it to 8 hours and hoped for the best, and when I got back to collect it everything worked ok.

i often had my mp3 player(s) recording until the end of battery power and never lost a file. i think both of mine have an auto-save function - you might have noticed a strange sound, lasting for a few seconds on some of my recordings. i think this happens when a file gets stored, approx. every 6 minutes but usually i cut that part.

Yeah, thats exactly the problem Shung. I'm not usually forgetful about where I leave my stuff unless i'm drunk, and I don't have the money to be drunk too often nowadays.
Once I've got my new mp3 player sorted though I'm gonna start trying this idea now and then. I figure that as long as I don't make it too regular, and as long as I seem to forget different things each time, i'll probably be ok.

Interesting development here boys - i'm posting to get your opinions.
Last night a few beers were shared between a few friends, and then my castle of love was the chosen destination to relax and sort out such things as getting a big pizza. One of the girls i've only ever met once before, at the party where I got the recording earlier on in this thread - she's just started sharing a house with someone I know. Anyway, the 2 of them ended up staying over because they were too lazy to get the night bus home.
I pottered off to bed thinking nothing of it, there wasn't any noticeable chemistry between them all night so I figured there'd be no point in waiting up for a catch. Besides, whos dumb enough to shag someone they've signed up to live with? Agent sc0tt-uk falls at the first hurdle!
