Nice recording but it sounds like the action was a lot further down the corridor from your location. For best results, there's no substitute for getting as close to the source of the sounds as possible and to get the absolute best quality you need to place your recorder at the bottom of the target door.

I love France for getting good sounds as the French don't seem to care if anyone hears them! Budget hotels with tiny rooms and hard floors give the best results - tiny rooms so that the bed is closer to the door and hard floors so as not to absorb any of the sonic goodness. And budget hotels are more likely to have younger (less inhibited) guests…
