All I can do is install mods and do some minor adjustements but that does not seem to be enough expertise to manage this project.
Well, mucking about in someone else's scripts can be time consuming and challenging, and I don't have a huge amount of free time, so I don't want to over promise here. However, we might want to begin with some simple changes to get my head in the game.

I'm not familiar with either of the packages you are using (I write stuff like this for a living, so I don't spend a lot of time looking at the code of other people's stuff), but I assume they are basically big php packages with mysql behind them. If that's so, hacking these two packages into something a little more unified should be straightforward, once I understand how they do what they do.

Maybe pm me with some particulars about your hosting environment and the packages you are using, and I can do a little initial research.
