What did you purchase it for if you don't mind me asking?

And yes, as others have said. Voice activated recordings are horrible. Don't do them. Just to measure how clear it is, put your recorder on VOR and record your sounds when you are at home for some period of time. You'll notice it just skips a lot of stuff.

I can't believe that it costs almost 300 euros. Such device is not for leaving unattended.

What did you purchase it for if you don't mind me asking?

Mainly for taking notes while hiking. My former Olympus was ok but the records became inaudible when there was wind. The 2 mics of this Sony should help.

Also I am hoping to finally be able to automatically transcript spoken notes into text. Until now it never worked, I think because of the low clarity of the voice notes.
