Sometimes my heartbeat pounds so loud in my ears that I can't hear anything. It's especially hot if I'm in a position to enjoy the noise in the safety of my own room, no interruptions or fear of being caught listening. I think everyone here gets this... very well said. People like us yearn for that noise, that confirmation that something is definitely going down in the other room.
