USB Recorder light issue
Did anyone had issues with USB recorder having lights and giving itself away? I got cheap USB recorder from Ebay, but it has blue light blinking once it is turned on. I thought of taping it, but I guess that will significantly ruin the recording quality. Any other wise solution?

Re: USB Recorder light issue
Get what you pay for. Look up eSonic. Black and White color units. Great recording quality. The light under the cap blinks several times only when you activate the recording just to give you battery status and then stops blinking after 3-4 seconds - so there is nothing to indicate it's recording. When you retrieve the recorder and turn it off, the same light will reappear for a second or two.

Have you actually let it go for a bit? The USB ones that I use have a flashing light that flashes for about 5-10 seconds when you first enable it, but then it goes dark. So, make sure yours continues to flash forever?mina385 wrote: 27 Nov 2018 00:21 Did anyone had issues with USB recorder having lights and giving itself away? You could also tape it. If you open one up, you'll see that the speaker is against the plastic at the end of the unit in most cases. So, putting a small piece of black tape over the light probably won't affect the recording quality. Some of them even have a small hole in the end to allow sound in.

Re: USB Recorder light issue
I use ones like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Recorder-Dictaph ... B07C84J1XQ

I usually take off the metal outer layer so that all that is left is black plastic. Looks just like a standard USB key with just a little switch on the side and a little light on top (that goes off once recording has started).
You can usually get them for $8-$12 on EBay. So, not a huge deal if you lose them.
I also just got a couple of these:
https://www.amazon.com/Mini-Voice-Recor ... B07HLFYCXR

You can get them on EBay for around $10-$12 sometimes (but I don't see any available right now). I haven't used these much yet, but I like the design so far. They don't look as much like the traditional thumbdrive as the first ones, but they have some nice features (like hitting a button to see how much battery charge you have). We'll see how it goes when I get to actually us them.
