Sorry im new and this is harder than I thought, I looked around and not sure if what I need is a voice recorder or I could get away with just using a USB, the wall is thin. See im not using a voice recorder for anything else, and they are more expensive dont know if i would wanna leave £50+ outside somewhere.
All these USB recorders though are recording in wav format? this one says "384Kbps resolution, more than 70db SNR" is that good? I wanna buy it and use it for outside as well? How do I know where the mic is on it? For using it against the wall it needs to be pushed right against the wall as though it's your ear? not gonna be as good obviously.
Basically I cant spend over £30 on something thats only gonna be used for one thing, like a voice recorder at least the USB I can justify it by having it do mutliple things. So I guess what I'm asking is how much better is a cheap voice recorder (£30) over the same budget on a usb recorder? The more expensive usb recorders all seem to be voice activated, dunno if I like that or not. Thanks anyway.

Re: USB recorder for a wall?
Hi tony.....I deffinetley recommend you to buy a good Recorder like the Olympus to get great results. It depends of course how much you are willing to invest into this hot hobby. But if you love this sounds like all of us do here.....buy a good Recorder as it is really worth each cent! USB´s are good to leave hidden on some places but their quality is mostly quite poor.
Hope to hear som of your recordings soon

Re: USB recorder for a wall?
You can find much cheaper mini USB recorders (similar to that one) with 192 Kbps quality and 8 GB storage, which
is more than sufficient for our purposes. Alternatively, you can spend a bit more money and buy a handheld one
with multi-settings.
