Blast From the Past - New Years Eve - January 2016

So was going through my archive and thought I'd share this gem from my very early experiences recording.

Was very inexperienced still - thought of following couples or walking hotels was terrifying. Back then I had two miserable $15 USB sticks that had to be replaced after 3-4 uses. I would choose motels where I thought people would go after partying, check into a room, and roll the dice to see if I could pick up any through-wall action.

This motel was older and had one of those common electrical boxes that are becoming rare - for TVs from adjoining rooms to plug into. So these were captured by inserting my USB into the box as far as I could which was better than trying to tape it to a wall.

Couple arrived around 10PM and had a brutally loud argument - guy was complaining about her relatives they were going to visit right after the holiday.
Both were in their '20s and white. Guy was stocky, muscular. Close cropped black hair. Girl was a gorgeous, tall brunette. I didn't think anything was going to happen given his anger and her defensiveness. I had experienced other false starts beforehand - couple checks in, fights, one or both say 'Screw it!" and both end up leaving with zero action.

This time though after they both had their say, guy turned on love music and they started the first of FIVE lovemakings..

After that, they napped a bit and he asked about another round - she asked about the time and when he told her she replied they had enough for it. So they had probably their most intense session ending around 2AM.

Afterwards, quick shower and they departed. I was pleased to hear the door slam around 5AM - they had evidently gone out to join a party and returned; promptly falling asleep. I put my phone on vibrating-only alarm every 20 minutes so I could check the wall and not miss what I was hoping would be their wake-up morning sex - and was rewarded with Round 3:

Right after, they fell back asleep, woke up around 11AM to have a quickie Round 4 before showering and going out for lunch:

You can tell they were already getting a bit worn out. I would have been happy enough if that were it. And it seemed like it was. They returned around 130PM and shortly after turned on the Rose Bowl game. I was just hanging out reading, trying best to avoid any noise. Then to my surprise, they had their final score during the game:

So what was lacking in experience, quality and with an absence of any kind of decent recording equipment - was still able to get some very decent content. Always wondered given the quantity of semen she took over those sessions if any little ones joined their family that September!

Congratulations!! I loved the series, that clear, resounding and forceful. Maybe someone, like yourself, can say that he has technical shortcomings, okay, but in my opinion he has the freshness of the first recordings, with scarce means and with a lot of inexperience of the "sound engineer", but what is not can deny is the immediacy, the near, the next, the really instantaneous.

I do not know if now that we have sophisticated media, that we can record at a considerable distance, it seems that we are a few meters from the protagonists, we will know how to give that fresh and novel air. It's like the old Hollywood movies, even with their gaps, with their old tape, they are second to none before new productions or, failing that, they have something that blockbusters ignore: black and white also exists and fills the screen. Ah, history in the making - the early works of gekko. One day, they'll make a film about your adventures and this scenario will be part of the prequel. I wonder if Tom Cruise will still be around to take the lead role?
