I´m planning a getaway to a beautiful, vibrant town. Plenty of tourists around and the accommodation types range from camping, cheap hostels, mid-rage guesthouses, bungalows, mid-range hotels to luxury hotels.
Up until now I have only stayed at hostels and boy was I disappointed. Doing my nightly routine check haven´t caught anything.
Hostels
This kind of accommodation attracts young travelers on a budget, they either travel in groups, pairs or solo. Few couples come around but at the time I didn´t know any better otherwise I´d specifically hunt them instead. As you know though, it totally depends on their mood as well as at what point in their relationships they are (i.e.honeymoon period)
Mid-rage guesthouses
I can afford guest houses and I am opened to try them because I notice they attracts mostly mid to high budget couples, business man and business women on the road (who wish private, calm and a full-fledged place) AND local lovers who wish to book it for the night to do the thing. I feel like I might get something.
I haven´t tried any other kind of accommodation, I´d appreciate your input if you have experience with them.
Now the million dollar question is, with so many accommodation at each corner, which one do I pick. I have the idea to invest time to "look around" maybe talk to the clerks at each place to show me the room and the place itself (before booking it) so I can check the (cameras, roaming security, etc overall atmosphere) maybe half jokingly chit chat about if a lot of couples/lovers show around, this might give me some clues.

good question, I would recommend something like "mid-range hostels" with a large number of two bed rooms and an comparable low number of group rooms. On hotel.de you can check room entrance doors for door viewers on the pictures from the location and also check for video surveillance. If there is a B&B or a Meininger in the city you plan to visit this could be a good start especially if you look for young couples...

Camping is always a good option. No cameras, you get to scope likely couples during daylight hours, a tent is actually the bed space- so any action is only cm's away from any device. That said, it can be cold and having spent many years camping I'm always very surprised how many people DON'T have sex, when you'd think it was a dead cert. Good hunting
