Re: How did you find us?
I also found this site by first finding the old podcasts.
Any chance of those coming back?
Or, if not for a while, how about at least re-releasing the first 6 podcasts that are no longer available?

Well I'd like to restart podcasting if it would not take that much time to produce. The idea of having members do some shows for yeppie.org did not work.
I think I will seize your idea of re-releasing the first casts. Might take a few days (you are invited to remind me) - in the meantime you will find all of them in the archives

Hello, I use to freqently visit an irc channel of this site around 1996.
Found this whole new site accidentally searching for old files
Nice to see the community is still alive

Hi yeppie! Just a reminder, as requested, that you were thinking of re-releasing the first podcasts again.yeppie wrote:I think I will seize your idea of re-releasing the first casts. Might take a few days (you are invited to remind me) - in the meantime you will find all of them in the archives

thx!
P.S. I've noticed that a few of the smilies images are broken (like 6 of the 22 on the left just don't show up -- there or in messages) -- just FYI!

Re: How did you find us?
Hey John, thx for the reminder!
I have to revive my know how of podcasting but this should be done within a few days. The episodes will reappear soon.
Thanks again for making me aware of the broken smilies - fixed now.

I found this community through a google search for sexsounds. First I found the podcast and there was a link to this great site...

Re: How did you find us?
I wonder if the front page should be updated -- with anything really -- just to get a new date on there.
To be honest, the first time I went to yeppie.org, I thought it was dead/gone because the first thing you see on the main page is a news item from 2006! It was only on a LATER visit when I was checking again that I happened to make my way into these forums and realize that there was active discussion going on.
So, yeppie, if it were me, I'd either remove the old news or, probably better, find some new little bit to post with the current date so that it looks like new things are happening.
Heck, if you re-release the old podcasts, maybe make THAT the new news release for the main page -- that would likely work well.
Also, it appears that the podcasts are working to bring new people to the site. It might be your best advertising out there right now. While re-releasing the old podcasts will help for a bit -- I think even better would be getting something out there every month or so in a new podcast would be even better.
You don't even have to put all the normal work into it with your comments (although, that'd be great, of course!) If you are pressed for time, maybe just pick any recent submission and convert it to be the podcast -- even if there is no editing or additional content added to it. Just so it continues to be seen as an active podcast.
Just my thoughts, of course -- use or don't use as you please.

Re: How did you find us?
Sounds like some good ideas, John! Also, Yeppie...you've probably noticed, but if you haven't Google's Lively chat space is closed now. It wasn't so lively, I guess! Next time you're tweaking the forum maybe time to replace it...with a banner ad for the podcasts or something!

@ Shung -> Sometimes Mr. Yeppie is a goofy gaby dorky prat. Obviously I thought if I can't see Lively anymore it isn't there. I removed it longtime ago but only from the yellow style.
John, you are absolutely right, the static part of the site needs a makeover. As the content management system behind this part is a bit out of date too, the makeover will be time consuming which was a bit discouraging for me last year after renewing the forum and the archives. But that turns to be a lame excuse now.
Same for the podcast. I know how important this is in terms of attracting new members to the site. The idea of a monthly episode without any comments is worth consideration.
Thanks for your very much appreciated ideas.

Re: How did you find us?
Well, it isn't that it needs a complete makeover really. I just think that the first thing that people see shouldn't be the latest "news" item being from 2006. I would just put up ANYTHING as a new news item with today's date -- so that when people come here for the first time, it looks like something RECENT is going on. Again, I think if the first thing people see is a news item from 2006, they will assume that this site is dead and not even make it into the forums nor be interested in subscribing to the archives.yeppie wrote:John, you are absolutely right, the static part of the site needs a makeover. So, even if you don't do a makeover or change the content management system at all, maybe just throw something on that main page with today's date as the first item that people see.
Good luck!

Re: How did you find us?
Hey! I see the changes coming, Yeppie! Nice work! New opening screen -- and dates removed on the ancient news items -- plus a new news item with today's date. I think that will help first-time visitors not to get the wrong impression! Thanks!

Re: How did you find us?
Well, I am the one to say thanks, John.
And the announced news with today's date are on a good way. I'd say 70% ready but I don't have much time for the last 30% during next week.
