How to hide a big ass recorder?

Just bought Sony PCM D100 and I'm staying in hotel this weekend. I didnt realize how big this thing would be before buying. Any tips on how to hide it in a hallway?

i would look for a big plant pot or fire extinguisher or maybe behind a hallway couch or lounge chair i dont know about new york area hotels layout but here some hotels have lounge chairs just in front of lifts just perfect for hiding a big ass recorder in the hallway

Although the community wants as many recordings as it can get, having looked at the price of those recorder, from painful experience I would advise caution.

I did post about this at the time, but your post reminded me that of when some years ago I left an expensive recorder and mic below the open window of a caravan. It was dark and late at night, but when I went to retrieve it very early next morning it had gone. I was gutted at the loss, but also terrified for days afterwards in case there was a 'knock on the door' as there were other recordings on it.

Please don't let me put you off recording, but thought it might be worth mentioning that.

Don't hide it anywhere, keep it in your hand! That thing is way too expensive to leave around. Apart from a few
fancy boutique hotels, you won't find anywhere in a hotel corridor to conceal it, anyway. You could always
leave it on the floor near the door while standing close to it, but get ready to pick up if anyone is about to
walk past.

I've bought only the cheapest Sony models in the past, and I still wouldn't leave them lying around. Mind you,
I'm not happy at all with the outdoor sound quality of my newest one. I'll buy an Olympus next time.

You'll need to practice with it a bit on how to hold it properly. Yeah, I know this sounds ridiculous, but the mic(s) is/are
very sensitive. Your recordings will have popping sounds if your fingers touch or are too near a mic. Rest the device
on your palm - never on your fingers - because, it doesn't matter how steady your hand is, your recording will still
sound shaky. This is because the mics on these devices are sensitive enough to pick up the slightest movements
of your fingers caused by your pulse. I sometimes forget this when I haven't done a handheld recording in a long while.
