Correction in naming files

Post by bossceo »

What I have noticed so far is that people when they post sounds they do not name the track correctly and therefore it makes it much harder when searching for sounds in the archives.

Can the admin please let our beloved members know that it’s very necessary and efficient to name the tracks correctly.

Thank you for your proposal, bossceo! I support your idea but I have doubts concerning the realization ...
Nevertheless you might begin at least the discussion by telling us about your understanding of correct naming.

For exp on neighbours section,
The second uploaded file is named Lesbian neighbours quickie however the file/track name is neighbor 6. How when searching for songs can we know what neighbor6 is. Ofc you can do the digging and find it out after sometime but is not efficient and it can be confusing. My advise would be if you could in able tags for the file uploads it would make things a little more organised.
Also if you do go file by file in the archives after a while you will face the error message so I’m order to avoid this issue I think everyone should understand this situation and use tags and correct makings for the tract. As I am using my phone atm I can’t upload screen shots but I will definitely do so everyone get a better understanding of what I am talking about.

Thanks. Well file names and tags are different solutions for the same problem but I know from experience that almost nobody here uses tags at all ... I am happy when files names are ok, let alone tags. Tags would be good, better naming would be great ...

You still should find a file you are searching for without hassle as you know the category and the uploader ... the system is almost flawless in 98% of the files uploaded to the archives without needing the search at all.

As an example so others could see, these tracks that are uploaded they have the right header but the track it self is not named correctly so when browsing it’s difficult to know what it is.
The system is good and I personally have no problem with it. However when searching in the archives when you go to many different folders after a while you get an error as I mentioned earlier and ofc u know. I personally use the search box and change from folders to files and search a key word and I get the sounds that show up (see attachment) however maybe that keyword is not mentioned in other tracks therefor the search is limited to those that contain the words. What I’m saying is that maybe if there was tags it could sort things out a little better. Again I need to say I love everything about this platform. my reasoning behind this post is only to make awareness for others and that’s all.

I see and I agree that tagging the files and having a tag system in the archives would be good. I just see no realistic option to have members tag their files appropriately not to speak of the 20.000 files already archived.
Please don´t hesitate to proclaim your ideas here, every file with a better naming is welcome.
