By reading the attached document you might be able to better comprehend why yeppie decided to close his site.
I am waiting for your comments.

Re: Some background information about the closing
Hmmm, I have very little that's constructive to say having read the background info. Most of it would be purely ranting and raging, so probably best left unsaid *sigh*
Yeppie, I (and anybody else who reads that surely) totally understand why you closed SSL, but man I'm seriously glad you're still around.
Looking forward to checking out the new Mod's plans for progress, and I'll offer up as much help as I can with whatever I can.

Agreed, it is really hard to come up with anything constructive to say after reading the background info, what started out as seemingly helpful suggestions clearly deteriorated into somebody who was trying to cause trouble for Yeppie. I too totally understand why he felt the need to close the site, when you have somebody like this after you reporting your site to whoever they can think of then the safe thing to do is to just shut it down.
I too am very appreciative of the new moderator and look forward to whatever plans he has for the community and will help where and how I can.
Regards,
The Audioman

Hi Scott and Audioman,
I know Yeppie will be glad to read that because he told me he felt very uncomfortable after closing the site for letting those many users down and he felt uncertain whether he was overreacting.
If you ask me, after reading the story, I wondered why he did not do this earlier.

No I do not think he overreacted at all, and I agree had I been in his place I probably would have felt the need to close things down earlier than he did, particularly with the site being hosted in the U.S. As I said in an earlier message on the old site, nobody should expect Yeppie to risk either his financial viability or indeed his liberty to uphold a principal. After reading the whole story it seems clear to me that this person was out to get him and/or the site for some unknown reason. Either they work for law enforcement themselves or they just have some sort of problem, who knows.
This has been discussed at some length before on here, the ethical and the possible legal consequences of making covert recordings such as a good number of these are. As to the ethics, each of us must decide what he or she is willing to do and to live with, it's as simple as that. The legal part gets a lot more complicated because the laws vary so widely by country and indeed by state or by city. Again as has been stated here before, actively planting or hiding microphones or recording devices in a private room would almost certainly cross the line in most places I am pretty sure. For instance the means that Eitghman used to get many of his hm recordings would definitely cross the legal line just about anywhere, and I hope to hell the guy didn't get busted. I can say with a fair degree of certainty that most of us here do not encourage people to do this kind of thing, I'm actually not certain if you can even legally do so on your own premises, in fact I am pretty sure you can't if your intent is to distribute the results in a public forum such as this site. The acting theory that most of us go by is that if you can hear something going on outside of a door or window without actually being or placing anything inside the room itself then you may at least be in a legal gray area of sorts and somewhat safer. Again, each person has to decide how much risk he or she is willing to take here.
as to this site itself, my opinion is that the larger the site grows the less safe it may ultimately become and I think that yeppie was wise to keep this site from becoming part of the so-called adult entertainment industry as much as possible, this will only draw more attention to the site by people who may want to shut it down particularly with the legal and political climate being what it is in the U.S. and I guess in a good part of Europe as well. I of course have no idea Futheas of what your long term plans are for the site but I would definitely keep this incident in mind while making your plans.
Well I sort of lost my train of thought which means that I've probably gone on long enough for one message.
Best regards,
The Audioman

Re: Some background information about the closing
All I can say is wow. The only motivation behind the wierd e-mail exchanges seem to be someone generating sales for ASCAP. Or someone completely off their rocker. But I think $$$ was the reason. Glad to see the site back up.
I feel bad for Yeppie. Not a good thing to have to put up with. I'm sure it caused a lot of sleepless nights.

Whoever it was, is obviously a complete dickhead. I have no time for people such as this. I understand the threat of this person and the pressure you were under, Yeppie. Reading through all that rule this and rule that..he was under serious threat of boring me to death. It may be the case if this numbskull will not shut the fuck up that releasing the legal dogs of war on him (and the likely outcome of charges of harassment) will soon put a droop in his pecker.
frankly the guy needs a slap, or several
Ray.
