Hello from Futheas
Hello dear friends of the Sexsoundlovers Community!
Just a few words to introduce myself:
My name is Futheas, I was a long time member of the Community at yeppie.org (using a different name). After the site had to be closed by yeppie, I offered him assistance as I did not want to see the community die completely.
As Yeppie knew me for a long time, he finally agreed to let me have full access to his server so I could copy anything which I needed to restart the Community of Sexsoundlovers.
The first step for me was to open the forum - I have not decided about the archives and the podcast yet. Today you will find the forum looks totally the same as on the closing day (April 30) and it contains all messages and files of this day.
There will be a few changes coming (like disclaimers) within the next days or weeks which yeppie had already prepared. But even more important: let's discuss the Community rules for the future to avoid a situation that led to the closing by yeppie. You will find more information on this in a coming thread.
This server is promised to be safe when it comes to legal action - I would not have restarted the Community if I would not believe this. So, as far as I can say, no user has to be afraid as long as he complies with the existing and the coming rules of this Community.
Last but not least: Yeppie will be a member of the Community too, and I'm sure he will take part in our discussion. He is no admin anymore but an active member allthough he told me that he won't be very active for the next time.
I am very excited to meet you (again)!
Yours,
Futheas

Re: Hello from Futheas
Hi folks,
I am happy that this community will be able to survive without my old friend Yeppie having sleepless nights - that would have made it impossible for me to enjoy it.
First of all thanks 1000 times to Futheas for his efforts, and a big hug to Yeppie for inviting. Feels good to belong to the inner circle ...
Cheers,
Digger

Hi everybody!
Highpass, Yeppie told me that 10 or so members offered help and he especially mentioned your forum.
Shoutbox? Like an emergency number? Could be a good idea.

Re: Hello from Futheas
A new forum which lives in the middle can be an option.
Simple and flexible. Other rules for the archive.
Contribution makes a member, not the money?
And now the new location.., scary...., or am I wrong?
Audioman you are right.
Yeppie.........., respect.
Futheas, how are you?

Re: Hello from Futheas
Hi Highpass,
There won't be an additional paid membership probably, but then we (well, I) need another solution for paying the bill (which now is higher than before).
Where /what is the middle in your eyes?highpass wrote:A new forum which lives in the middle can be an option. Simple and flexible.
Contribution always made members, didn't it?highpass wrote:Other rules for the archive.

Why scary?highpass wrote:And now the new location.., scary...., or am I wrong?

@Futheas
In the middle of the "bad world".
On one side there is a provider/webhotel which follows the law in the country it provides.
At the other side are milions of people and "our community".
Free unlimited registration will increase the risc of troubles.
Scary in the way of trust, control, logged and to be linked.
Or am I talking no-sense.....?

Re: Hello from Futheas
Please excuse me for letting everybody wait for an answer. I have been really busy during the last weeks and did not want to bungle the start of the Community by acting hastily.
Highpass, I don't think you are talking no-sense - the site has to be safer than before to decrease the risk. There are a few actions to be taken (or have been taken):
- Move to another provider (done)
- Host the side outside the US (done)
- Formulate or reword Rules and Terms of Use (hopefully done by the end of today)
- Discuss acceptable recordings (starting today)
There will be no subscription option in the short run - maybe I will install a donation button later to share the burden of hosting costs.
I am not sure about the registration process The most probable option is activation through admin. I am thinking about asking for a copy of an official document (like passport), showing real name, age and address. I know this can be sidestepped but at least I have an address that I can contact in case of conflicts.
My thoughts so far,
f.

Re: Hello from Futheas
It's lovely to see the old place back - I'll no doubt mostly lurk as before, as although I do have audio files, I have nothing I can offer that wouldn't break confidences - but I do appreciate the files everyone uploads, and I'm very much looking forward to more
