Hey guys, long time no see!
I bring you a recording from my new neighbors. They are french, and they moved in recently, I haven't seen them yet.
I decided to dust off my wall mic setup to check how spicy they would get. Disappointingly, not very much.
After a week, this is what I managed to capture on a saturday morning. It's short but I figured you guys would like it anyways.
They are two files: the raw one and the noise reduced one.
Enjoy!
PS: there is some electrical whine in the background because my mic is battery powered, so I plugged it to the wall to ensure it would last long enough.

Nice! What wall mic are you using? And how well does it work overall? Want to buy one to hear my neighbors but the walls are really thick.

Well; you are right we like it anyway! And not disappointing at all β beautoful sounds and fingers crossed for more.
I think the raw one works better the noise reduction artifacts are pretty distorting.

I'm using this one: https://aliexpress.com/item/1005005948692865.htmllanger_hans98 wrote: 20 Nov 2023 08:03 Nice! What wall mic are you using? And how well does it work overall? Want to buy one to hear my neighbors but the walls are really thick.
It works well enough without too much whine when plugged in (and full battery). It's quite easy to keep pressed on the wall due to the form factor, but you need a flat surface to put it on, as it's quite heavy.
You can hear what it sounds like pretty much out of the box with the non-noise reduced recording, I only applied some treatments to suppress the high pitched frequency via Audacity.
Before deciding to buy a wall mic, you need to do it the old way first, with your ear on the wall
If you can hear people talking (even faintly), then you should be good to go. Don't hesitate to try different spots on the wall if you can't hear anything at first.
Yeah, artifacts don't bother me, so I use an aggressive setting, but I always include the raw(ish) one for people who don't like it!mateov wrote: 20 Nov 2023 15:09 Well; you are right we like it anyway! And not disappointing at all β beautoful sounds and fingers crossed for more.

Good stuff! You can mark me down as another who prefers the lack of NR. If there were some hot dialogue or dirty talk that I would like to understand, I would be in for the NR. Here's hoping your neighbors are active!

Thank you guys, I will make sure to NOT pass on your compliments to her
I found her name on the mailbox, she's a slim brunette with long straight hair and a beautiful face, in her late twenties.
