Help recovering file
Not sure if these are corrupted, compressed or what. I cannot play them after getting them back using a wondershare software. I have more, I just want to start with these two. Have no idea what are on these.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Help recovering file
They show zero minutes and zero seconds of playable content. Very strange.

Is there a chance that they are permanently corrupted?Stott13 wrote: 15 Nov 2023 02:14 They show zero minutes and zero seconds of playable content. Very strange.

Re: Help recovering file
Nah mate i also tried looking thru..the files cant even play on numerous players. Seems like theyre gone. Might need a tech wizard to perhaps defragment the files or so perhaps. Dont know if the wondershare can revert these files back to original state.i know one or two freewares that could do that but unfamiliar with wondershare

Re: Help recovering file
Hi, bad news: I've checked the actual contents of the files and they only consist of zeroes, meaning there's no actual data in it that can be retrieved

Re: Help recovering file
Yea, the data got corrupted because it probably was saved without headers - happened to me too once or twice. A WAV file without header/meta data is just a incoherent binary file.

Re: Help recovering file
That's so odd. All I did was delete the files that were on my desktop, into the recycling bin. Then emptied it. You would think it wouldn't corrupt those files to where they can't be retrieved anymore.cumfan wrote: 15 Nov 2023 08:18 Hi, bad news: I've checked the actual contents of the files and they only consist of zeroes, meaning there's no actual data in it that can be retrieved

Re: Help recovering file
It really depends on the operating system and file system and how much data was written after deletion. In some cases you can retrieve everything, in other cases (like yours) the meta-data like filename etc. is still there but the actual data is gone.cavguy67 wrote: 17 Nov 2023 06:14That's so odd. Re: Help recovering file
Just thought I'd chime in and say, as others have said, the files are completely empty (nothing but zeros). I opened it in a hex editor, ran a frequency analysis, and got back the files are nothing but zeros.
Alas, there is nothing to recover ...
