Best equipment for outdoor?

Hey guys
So there's this house nearby & I heard this couple going at it this morning (Valentine's day last time) might just be one of from them lol but, I couldn't believe how clearly I heard them. I tried recording on phone but came out pretty bad, just hear birds singing most of the time lol

Anyone know the best recorder/mic for outdoor stuff? In case I hear them again. I'm new to all this

If you have clear line-of-sight (no doors, windows, etc blocking the target sounds) then shotgun mic is probably your best bet.
