Hi all,
I have a first time recording that I used with my phone. To say the least it is poor, she wasn't very loud heavy breathing i think is the most i will get from this one, and I am unable to clean up the recording enough to post it.
I have wavepad sound editor, how do i reduce that hiss, any help, tips and suggestions welcome!...

Re: removing hiss and muffle
Basically record on a better device. There's very little to be done to improve a file once a recording has been made. The better the recording, the better the sound. Your phone just won't ever be that good. Even small dictophones can be pretty disappointing. If you want good recordings you'll need to get a good recorder. On the plus side, a good recorded can produce amazing results. Almost like being there. Again.

Re: removing hiss and muffle
There is a proverb used by sound engineer: Shit in = Shit out
When you record a bad sound, it's almost impossible to get a really better sound.
If the hiss is near a sinus, you can try to remove it with a graphic equalizer, but you have to find the good frequency. if the hiss is too large in the frequency
specter, don't waste your time with trying.
Like summer said, the best way is to start with the better record, after you can easier edit your sound if necessary
As mentionned in another thread, I use Audacity to remove anoying sounds, but sometimes it doesn't work.
Hope this will be helpfull
